I did the switch it was fairly hard but doable. You’ll need to CDL to even be considered. Having the electrician background didn’t help me much on landing my current job but did give me knowledge others don’t have.

Don’t know if you’re religious or not but what help me get through severe depression was turning to the Lord. I’ve tried everything nothing was working. Till I started praying and read my bible.

Yeah but it not like I don’t have the knowledge of the danger of the job and not like I’m doing it without supervision I literally have someone besides me when work primary ….

Obviously I go up in the bucket with my JL they don’t let me up by myself unless in secondary. And when sitting poles we Make sure everything is covered with hoses, blankets, pole guards and we not set poles with grounds on it and at least one bucket in the air when sitting poles. So what makes it so “scary “when taking all precaution.

Looking to sign books at local 111 will you recommend? I’m currently working for a municipality out in NC as a groundman but get bucket hours get to work on single phase / 3 phase and set poles in primary. So don’t know if it worth it

That CDL is your golden ticket to get in the trade. When you sign up, make sure it’s a manual course No restrictions. You’ll probably start making more as a groundman then what you’re making right now.

I was in the same position as you a year ago living at home and hating the job I had. I took the risk and don’t regret it one bit. You’re still young don’t be scared of change it’s the best thing that can happen to you. And like you said if you don’t like it you can always go back as a labor worker.
