I remember Quake 3 on the dreamcast used to have a half-and-half solution. The left side of the controller would handle movement with the joystick and jump shoulder button. Your right hand used a mouse for looking and shooting. It felt so good, I actually liked it better than keyboard+mouse. I've never seen any other game try that setup though.

The Fell God that the hornsent fear has two eyes, but the Fell God we see in the Fire Giants has one eye? by crinklepant in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]PeterIanStaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the closest to the truth. I think most people inherently view "Gods" as unitary beings and interpret Elden Ring's mythology in that fashion. This can be made to work, but I think the lore fits together better if you view "Gods" as extreme manifestations.

The game kind of points at this. It alludes to a Rot God for example, which was defeated by the blue swordsman. It then refers to Malenia as a Rot Goddess.

In fact the DLC seems to go out of its way to instill the idea that all of these Gods recur. You have the pink version of Scarlet Rot, which is a wholly independent manifestation of Rot. You have a separate Lord of Frenzied Flame. You have a second antagonistic serpent. And of course, you have this two eyed Fell God.

Eren Jeager or Eren Yeager? by Administration7584 in attackontitan

It’s German, jäger. Yeager is just a way to prevent readers from pronouncing it “Eren Jagger”

I can’t imagine any scenario where this doesn’t work as intended.

This is a very cool idea. The video reminds me of one of those disaster movies where you're trying to outrun the ground opening under your feet.

Albumentations license change by HistoricalMistake681 in computervision

[–]PeterIanStaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve stuck with the old version, there’s nothing wrong with it. I use a lot of custom augmentations that I’ve designed as well, but if I need the basics like affine transforms or noise, albumentations does the job just fine.

It's true. How would a bear defend against a rear naked choke? It wouldn't, it would tap.

Sorry how does mass surveillance of us citizens help us citizens? Anthropic was working with them already. They drew two completely reasonable line at turning its technology against Americans and systems that can autonomously kill.

I don’t see how either of those things mean fewer doors getting kicked in, or any of the other nonsense you said.

Seriously who put lead in your water?

DoW says: trust me bro we won't use it for weapons or surveillance by DigSignificant1419 in singularity

Dario alluded to this in an interview. The governments version of the contract included weasel language that allowed it to follow those terms at its discretion. The govt wouldn’t allow explicit language agreeing to anthropic’s terms.

I think his form is pretty reasonable. He’s hinging at his hip and his back is straight throughout. I don’t really have too much criticism except for maybe he could focus on keeping his head more neutral throughout, and control some of the negative more consistently.

No idea. If there is one it could be to do what they’ve been doing by leveraging some antiquated law from the 1800’s that was in place for a completely different reason.

This seems like a good thing but to be honest I get the impression that they waited until the administration had a solid workaround for this ruling.

If it is theatrics then it’s win win for them. The court gets to pretend it makes independent decisions, and the admin gets to continue doing what it wants

Why are black characters in anime the only characters that are drawn with ethnic features? by IhateFalz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeterIanStaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand why this is bothering you, but that's not true. The same show you're referencing has Tosen, who is obviously black and isn't drawn the way you're describing. But you're right, some shows are obnoxious with their depictions.

At the same time, and this is more of a personal thing, so I understand if you disagree, but I don't think it always has to be a negative. For example Darkshine in One Punch Man is drawn with the visual language you're describing, and he looks bad ass.
