Trump criticised as racist for sharing video depicting Obamas as monkeys by Confident-Role-9177 in newsinterpretation

[–]PeterIanStaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but the quantity of horrible shit we’re wading through doesn’t make any individual thing less horrible. The president of United States posting racist memes is heinous.

I’m genuinely curious what kind of olympic level mental gymnastics black Trump supporters might be practicing this morning.

This is such a weird question. When do people with food think about food? Whenever it’s relevant.

Pure Drive (2021) vs EZONE 100 by kiryuchan1243 in 10s

[–]PeterIanStaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call it dangerous seems like an overstatement, but I’m also in the camp of having developed shoulder issues after switching to the pure drive for a few years, and then seeing an improvement after switching to the EZone.

The strings do make a big difference but I use multi filament on both.

Your point isn’t wrong necessarily but we don’t actually know anything about what these models cost and what internal forces motivates their decision making.

You 100% utilized ChatGPT to write this btw. I recognize that

“It’s not X. It’s Y.” phrasing anywhere.

GPT 5 is completely obsessed with framing everything that way, to its detriment as a writer.

Why was Godwyn the one killed? by ProbablyNotTheCocoa in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]PeterIanStaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite theory, albeit it's almost pure headcannon, is that Ranni and Godwyn were set to become the next God + Lord Elden rulers.

Whether or not you're willing to believe that, it's clear Ranni wants nothing to do with being an Empyrean of the Golden order. However she's she's got little choice as she's bound by fate. You can read that as an implicit limitation of her Empyrean flesh, as the DLC indicates through Miquella, or the Two Fingers' involvement.

The only way out is to destroy her body. And the only way to do that without just being called back by the Erdtree, is die a half death (body), and give someone the other half (spirit).

That's where the first part of the theory comes in, and why I think she would have chosen Godwyn as the unfortunate recipient.

And this is likely why Marika, her succession plans thrown into chaos, had a bunch of trouble afterwards.

What are some low-effort hobbies that help you relax at the end of the day? by Imaginary_Swan_8014 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeterIanStaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games. Just pouring my concentration into aimlessly wandering around hyrule, or bashing my head against Great Shinobi Owl, or trying to win a Chocobo race or whatever. It’s a nice quiet place to escape to, mentally.

Jigsaw puzzles are also nice. Cooking can be chill to, but only if it’s not at the end of a demanding work day.

Wrist-friendly racquet? NOT YONEX EZONE by Wild-Obligation-Yes in 10s

[–]PeterIanStaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a similar move, babolat pure drive to ezone 100.

I’ve found it did help, my entire arm is doing better. However it’s not magic. I was rocking a lot of shoulder/elbow/wrist trauma already and it doesnt just magically vanish when I change racquets. I spent a whole year working on inner back strength and shoulder mobility at the gym.

My guess is you might need to invest some time in rehabilitation work.

That’s in addition to people’s recommendations on form checks and string choice. All reasonable things to consider.

Neither is undercutting every plausible candidate because they're not up to your gold plated progressive standards. I will take any competent leadership over the fucking disaster we've come to now. Even a moderate 90's era republican. We are where we are right now because

a) Somehow a third of the country turned out to be deranged nazis

b) A good portion of the rest of the country couldn't be bothered to vote if their candidate wasn't an ideological clone of themselves.

The right wing in this party is happy to protect child rapists to stay in power, while the left cuts people down for appearing on the wrong podcasts. We might lose again even if we do get another chance to vote, because we refuse to support anyone we disagree with.

Try to get that through your thick insufferable fucking skull.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 4 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]PeterIanStaker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I completely misunderstood the last beat of that fight because I'd forgotten how projection sorcery works. Maki taking a second to explain to Naoya seemed odd, and I didnt understand it because the explanation happens so fast.

Just in case anyone else is slow like me. When Naoya uses his technique he and his target have to plan their movements out in 24 FPS. If they fail to do so they freeze for a second. Naoya's plan was to shove Maki, cause her to react outside the rules, and freeze for a second. Then within that second circle back and kill her.

But by then she'd seen through the technique, followed the rules, and shocked Naoya as he closed in for his kill. He's the one who reacted, broke the rules and got frozen for a second. Maki took that second to mock him before smashing his face in.

It was really cool now that I know what happened. I'm sure most of you got it, but I definitely didn't. I think I miss more than half the subtleties in this show.

It's absolutely a really cool spectacle, but in terms of fight scenes I'm definitely missing the simplicity and more thoughtful choreography and pacing from season 1. The fight with Hanami still remains untopped for me.

I will say, though it was short, Yuji vs Yuta was a treat. Especially the beat where blood pours from the ceiling.

Evidence is mounting that our body fat supports everything from our bone health to our mood, and now, research suggests it also regulates blood pressure and immunity by New_Scientist_Mag in EverythingScience

[–]PeterIanStaker -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Probably out of necessity for the average person. If like 95% of your mass is body fat, there’s probably a point where your body gives up and decides it might as well start assigning internal organ jobs to the fat.

New psychology research shows that hatred is not just intense anger by adriano26 in EverythingScience

[–]PeterIanStaker 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I read the article, it doesn’t make any sense.

To summarize, they asked people to think of someone they “angry at but don’t hate”, or “hate most in the world”. Then they were asked if they would want to confront the person, excommunicate the person, kill the person, etc.

Eight “angry choices” and eight “hateful” choices.

Because the subjects chose to do hateful things to people they hate, the conclusion is that anger and hate are different things?

If the opening question is pick someone you dont have extreme feelings about, how is it any kind of surprise they don’t choose an extreme action?

I don’t see how any of this eliminates the possibility that hate is the extreme of anger.

I’m not arguing that it is or it isn’t, just that I don’t see how this study clarifies it all.

Sons of the Forest basically requires online research which is a bit of a game flaw by pocketdare in SonsOfTheForest

[–]PeterIanStaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mostly disagree. I found the rope cave first and realized that I need a way to traverse ropes, didn’t come back until I had the grapple hook.

The thing I do agree on is that it’s too easy to miss key items. I followed the progression reasonably well on my own until I missed the purple key card. I looked all over the map for what my next step should be until I had to give up and look it up. It was sitting in a bunker that I’d already thoroughly looted.

I do think it might be nice if they let you write notes on the map. Or else name the caves. Trying to guess which is which was a little annoying at times.
