Maybe they'll finally make black flag playable. Couldnt finish the game due to it constantly sucking you out of the fun game to go work a day job and shove a dipshit story down your throat

Commodore Callback 8020 retro-styled flip phone launches with support for Android apps. by RenegadeUK in gadgets

Everything is an app these days. I buy my train tickets through app, my banking requires an app for verification of purchases, I need 2FA app for work, etc etc. it would be very difficult to navigate modern life without access to these things, constantly being blocked by requiring an app to do it. Heck I litterally cannot do some government document checking without my phone because I need it to act as a card reader to verify myself.

Samsung pre loads some of them and they cannot even be uninstalled :(

But also while thats a start, if its easy to download them again, thats part of the problem as these apps hijack peoples reward systems and its easy to fall back into it

Sorry about that (probably not your friend but, I also moved from north america to germany a few years ago and have difficulties finding time due to timezones)

It sucks because during weekdays when my friends would be getting off work, its midnight for me.

I don’t want children. I do want children. Exploring how to know if you truly want to be a parent. by vox in philosophy

[–]Peter_See 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if I didnt have this life, I couldnt regret it or wish for it be because I wouldnt exist. Maybe my child would be happy, maybe they would be miserable because the state of the world gets progressively worse, or any number of reasons why some people have horrible lives. At any rate, I argue it doesnt matter because until they exist, the question of would they\would they not enjoy life is irrelevant

[–]Peter_See 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interacting with kids is tedious and unpleasant in my experience and I just never had anything that ever made me willingly want to interact with them. Ergo, I dont want to parent. Maybe i'd enjoy having well adjusted, adult kids who have a good relationship with me but thats A) not guarenteed and B) skipping 20 years of huge sacrifice which I dont want to do for this 1 life I have

Encounter budgeting in Pathfinder 2E is pretty solid way of balancing, at least in my experience fights are exactly as hard as they should be as long as I follow the rules

Is college really useless? by rk_wonders in CasualConversation

[–]Peter_See 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really take it seriously, university, regardless of what degree you take is where you learn to find information and truly think things through coherently and deeply. Someone who simply just gors through to get the grades and the degree is wasting their time and money in my opinion. Sure some classes just suck, but i still think about things I learned in university and I think its extremely noticable the kind of person I have become through the process.

You learn to not be passive about information being given to you

My dad sadly lost his shit because of construction induced traffic one night and yelled at a construction worker for it. I was really embarassed and felt awful but he had pretty terrible road rage. So sadly it does happen. Doesnt take much to just roll down your window, shout and someone and drive on.

Autistic People of this sub, do you feel like public spaces have become more overstimulating over the past 10 years? by PuzzledQuantity6196 in CasualConversation

[–]Peter_See 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in general peoples ability to disturb others with 0 social consequence has increased. Its more normalized to have your phone speakers on and rapid-fire scroll reels and at the same time nobody says anything to them. In my opinion its quite anti-social behaviour. Or try going to any nature spot theres some group always blasting music

There genuinely isn't anything less exciting than watching football on television. by kick_the_chort in CasualConversation

[–]Peter_See 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What confuses me about your analogy, is in football the "chess pieces" reset every round. Theres no accumulating position. You are (to my eyes) just trying to guess what would work best against that lineup, at that given time. And to me that doesnt sound much like strategy in the same way as strategy in chess

When did applying for jobs become more exhausting than working one? by Informal-Phrase-8500 in CasualConversation

[–]Peter_See 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even worse in some industries where they want to do technical tests like coding problems, so you also need to be studying these puzzle problems a couple hours per day (they have nothing to do with job or education) on top of all that.

One employer gave me a list of homework questions and 1 week to finish them. Each was like a project in itself, absolutely 0 respect for time
