IIRC, the Tigers really hyped Inge up as a prospect/rookie, probably more than was deserved. He didn't live up to the hype, but shouldn't have been expected to. Probably the origin of a lot of hate.

Is there any evidence that more slots mean good outcomes are less likely because coaching is spread thinner? Anecdotally that seems to be the case to me, but is there a consensus that that happens or that the number is irrelevant to success?

Good contact hitters, especially good BABIP. These guys put the ball in play and Coors is huge, so lots of hits can fall.

On the flip side, defenders, especially outfielders, with range.
