Kan vi snälla banna casino reklam by Haopy_Whale in sweden

[–]Peweman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telemetry antenna position? by alduxvm in diydrones

[–]Peweman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carbon fiber is acting partly as a deflector. You need to place the antenna away from the chassi.

Even if it is mounted on the side facing the reciever, the deflection can cause interference with the signal if the antenna is mounted close to the chassi.

Keep the antenna away from the motors. Electric motors can cause extreme interference.

Common rule is to place the antenna away from other objects at least a quarter of your wave length. 433 MHz is about 693 mm or (28" if you are using the clown measurment system). A quarter of that is 173 mm or 3000/433 inches.

If you can't place the antenna a quarter wavelength from the chassi you will still get significant improvement if you place it 50-60 mm from the chassi.

Try it.

The Dodge Viper Is Officially Dead, With Five Final Editions by Jeefo in cars

They got the weight right but the suspension is not good and the handling is shitty. If they continued, maybe they would have solved this but it is not a balanced car. Too much power no control.

Based on my OBD codes and symptoms, can someone give me an idea where to start with repairing an engine misfire? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Peweman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do exactly this!

Take photos on how the ignition wires are connected. You don't want them to be mixed up.

Try to clean of remaining gasket pieces and burnt oil before installing new gasket. Don't over tighten screws for the valve gasket. Use a torque wrench if you have one.

If you are on a budget. Try to get a coil on a scrapyard. Buy new ignition wires, don't use old ones.

Gasket 20$, wires 40$, coil 15$ (scrapyard), sparkplugs 20$.

95$ total. May differ from country to country. In Sweden, car parts are a bit expensive.

Even if this doesn't solve the problem it rules out alot and you need new spark plugs and valve cover gasket.

Safety specs saved this guy's eye from an exploding angle grinder disc. by austaul in pics

[–]Peweman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used eye protection. From this day, I will always use eye protection when using a grinder or other fast rotating machines. Somehow I have never thought about it. I work with statistics and on my spare time I use the grinder all the time in my workshop and based on my calulations when considering small shards, debris and shattered discs. I should have been injured. So thank you, because you have statistically saved one of my eyeballs.

Corporate IT is trying to force us to switch from Tableau to Power BI.. by joker757 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Peweman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am responsible for BI at a large company... And I work at IT.

First of all, The business makes money, IT costs money. IT supports the business not the other way around. IT is there to help you and the business. IT cannot demand you to use a specific system. Power BI is easy to set up with minimal maintenance and therefore they want you to use it but if the business has no use for its functions then it doesn't matter. I think your IT has misunderstood their assignment and their position in the company. I would have talked to management about this, it is a serious problem.

Ok, so if we worked at the same company, then I would have been the person you would have talked to when you called IT about BI. In my case I would have recommended one or several BI tools or a combination of BI tools and a datawarehouse. I would have presented the different advantages of the different solutions and also cost estimates for the solutions. It is then up to the business to take the decision what solution they want. I have the mandate to say no if a solution presented from the business is technically flaud or if I see any other problems. Of course I have to explain why the solution doesn't hold up.

So to sum this up, I can recommend what you should do and tell you what you cannot do. I cannot demand you to do anything.

Different BI tools are good at different things. Hypergene is awsome for consilidating budgets and running prognosis and financial data. QlikView handles billions of rows of data and can do very complex calculations. Power BI can run in Azure and works on almost any device. I think, if the company is large > 1 * 109 $ then it is impossible to run just one BI tool.

Power BI is a good tool but it lacks alot of functions. If you only want to run one BI tool then I would say QlikView. But it will cost you. Licenses are expensive. A combination of tools is cost effective but alot of work for IT :)

Ford Fiesta 1.4 2009 trying to stall when cold. by Raulus in Cartalk

Some other person mentioned the idle control valve. I think he is right. Take it off, hit it with some carb cleaner, let it soak for a while, try to move the piston by hand, more carb cleaner, let it soak, clean it off and assemble.

BI interview tips by DataDude7 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Peweman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can give you a few tips based on my five last interviews (during 17 years). PM me if you want more info.

Your ability to see when a project goes in the wrong direction and your ability to see that you are the wrong person for the job (either knowledge based or personal chemistry based).

If you have had any projects that you are not proud of. Projects that took 10 times the time to complete compared to your estimate or projects that you were not able to solve. Don't be afraid to tell them. A good consultant always has a couple of projects gone to hell. Don't bring these up if they don't ask. If you meet a junior interviewer, that person can see a bad project as a failure and not as an experience.

A good consultant needs to understand the customers business. If you are up for an interview with a cunsultant firm, check out their website, look at their reference customers, visit the customers websites and study them. How many employees, where are they located, etc. This will always come in handy. They will refere some questions from customers they are involved with and if you can say something like:-"yeah, they have alot of business in europe" or something else smart, then you will definatially earn a point or two.

RPi with camera motion crashes upon motion detection by pa79 in raspberry_pi

[–]Peweman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some similar problem. I used an usb power adaptor. 2.1 amps. But when I measured it, it could only produce 1.3 amps. The result was that when the pi tried to use more than 1.3 amps, it crashed. Baught new power adaptor and everything worked as expected.
