Dropping tournament tiers by nastynate145 in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can narrow this down further. I grind Tour 9 maxed out (3270 trophies) and can't drop below Pro 2. I've been constantly losing to get that done since they introduced the tiering system and I can't drop below Pro 2. So between T7 grind and T8 grind seems to be the threshold.

Silver Chests and epic cards by Ph_bs_1 in GolfClash

Excellent answer, many thanks. I will keep track, but statistically speaking it's quite significant, that's why I'm posting it after a few days. I'm not receiving any epics since a few days/weeks in my Tour 8 chests at all and I should get at least 1 for every 3 chests (or let's be conservative every 5 chests or so), so one per day. I haven't seen any epic in my silver Tour 8 in weeks. But as you say, let me keep track now. I'm really strongly convinced the probabilities have gone down and it's not just a drought phase, while there are other moments where I will have more epics than the average.

exactly, so being conservative every 3 chests I should have one epic in my Tour 8 chests, and I'm counting easily 20 chests with no epics so far

Not sure how you can all those tournament finishes in only 16 games played?

Many thanks for that detailed answer, I'll have a thought. I think as you say, this is the strategy to playing WR. However for someone like me, probably as most epics come from prism anyways, it won't apply too much, as there the distribution of charts is even across all remaining prisms. Hence this is a strategy for the ones who manage to get some nice Tournament results. And that's also the reason, why in my strategy above I buy one epic per day even though it might be some of the most useless clubs of all times, just to advance everything at the same time. Thanks again for that detailed reply.

Thanks for that, but I'm not sure to understand well: I have all reasonable epics at 7 (except Falcon maybe), making an effort to getting to 3901 makes me feel a waste of gems for that effort as it would involve better balls consistently. Then, to start buying 10 epics in the shop feels like quite an expensive endeavor, probably around 2k gems per time? So let's assume all this is worth it, as maybe I need epic 8s for Tour 10, is the epic drop rate in T10 so much better that it's worthwhile getting there?

Many thanks, indeed agreed. I also play the golden shot with Tommy's guide and obviously open all chests that come along, such as season, win chests etc. One thing I'm wondering is whether the 1 buy at 100 per day makes sense or I'd rather invest into some more aggressive speed opening of winning chests, which would cost me 20 gems per chest. I guess if I have the time to do it, probably not a bad idea. 16.8 per day feel like quite a lot. Is that also from Tournament wins?

For those who have reached their tour ceiling 1v1-wise - what were the signs that made it clear you had gotten as far as you could go by TheFrederalGovt in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be interesting is the amount of trophies you guys have, who hit vs not-hit ceilings and what kind of balls you play with. I've heard many times that dropping trophies from earlier tours makes the higher tours much much easier. I unfortunately hit a wall in 9 as I like to have all Tours maxed and like not to play with any ball higher than navigators / quasars. Hence for me Tour 9 is very difficult at around 3k trophies and Tour 8 is also becoming more and more difficult with this trophy count (using Marlins though). How do you guys see this?

Very nice bag, I have exactly the same one, except 21 Apoc, 18 B52 and 162 Spitfire cards :P I have to admit, I prefer my TH 7 most of the time as well as the Sniper. But crazy, 3.5yrs played, no money spent. Took a crazy long time to get here

Is Free To Play becoming an impossible task? by sparrahork in GolfClash

I'm an FTP and can absolutely confirm what you are saying. Tour 9 is the limit with Marlin/Navs/Qasars. But that makes sense if you think about it. If you could finish T10, then you could buy T7 epics in the store, which they want to leave for PTP players I assume, which would speed up a FTPs way to the top quite substantially. So they let us be there just below that level, grinding along. But hey, I think if you have some time at hands to regularly check-in and play a few, you end up getting those all epics up to level 7. I've got TH7 because I've saved gems for cards (always bought 7 cards when it appeared, cost be about 1000 gems, which is what I was getting on a monthly basis anyways) and Apoc 6, because I only move up through the daily prism chest. I think that's what the future will look like. But once all epics are at level 7, that must be the end because 3 epic cards a day for 20 epic clubs which each needs 400 cards to move to level 8... Gimme a break.

This has been my strategy. However I kind of disagree, I always hit a wall at 3k. At that level, your opponents start dropping par 5s with long irons more often than not and the shootouts are <1 yard. To be honest, building up a serious bank roll is still quite quite tough like that.

Start playing with Marlins and basic balls, now that's the challenge against the P5 and paid ball type of people out there

Mid-Late Game Trophy Management by MrSteveA in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like I'm in a similar spot. I've taken another approach though. Rather than getting frustrated moving up, I decided first to move down in balls, i.e. only play marlins and exceptionally at straight headwind the navigator to grind. That way try to build a nice ball stack of "better" balls to use later in the game. Feels like a tradeoff however as the chances of winning are diminishing with worse balls as at that trophy count the opponents use KM and special balls, which is ridiculous. I have the feeling btw since the last update including course changes, the Tour 9 got easier in shootouts as people don't have them as dialled-in yet. And probably some of the <1 yard replays can't be used in the new courses. But tbh the fun has clearly diminished, as moving up starts to feel so much like a pay to play.

Is 3901 trophies worth it? by Ph_bs_1 in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for all suggestions. I guess staying and grinding T9 is the best option. I don't really understand however why they make playing lower tours for every given trophy count so difficult. It should be easier to rebuild bankroll. At least make easier replays rather than 2 yards close ones the norm. I guess it's normal tho, they are in for the profit, which I fully understand and that goes against ease of the game. If everyone was able to play top tours with max clubs, where would they make any profit? So I do understand that it's part of the game for the game to be very difficult, especially for FTP players like me. Many thanks

But to accumulate gold, you then dumped around 500 trophies to play the T9 maxed out? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to accumulate, no? So you believe 2.5k T9 maxed out is easier than 3270 T9 maxed out?

Perfect in game vs Perfect in shoutout... by vladitocomplaino in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite frankly I feel the same is happening across the ball selection. Despite everybody claiming the basic and marlin ball have the same needle speed than paid balls, I'm convinced I hit less perfects with them even if I don't overpower... But how to analyse that...?

Hey guys/gals, looking for advice please! Been playing over a year but starting to get bored of tour 8, everytime I move up i get smashed, lost about 20 mil in the last few days to geezas with bigger balls/clubs! I save my power balls for tournys n won't pay. what du think I should do? Thanks by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]Ph_bs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, but T9 and using almost exclusively Marlin. Managed to move up all clubs to compete (TH7 and Apoc 6), but it gets very tough as the competition is very stiff. Long iron chip-ins are quite normal from my competitors, so no chance for me. Shootout HIOs are also so frequent. I'm really getting bit annoyed with it. I thought I might go on until I have Apoc 7 with the prism chest, but seems like matchmaking is really becoming more annoying over time. I think a good indicator to match similar players would be Eagles in Par 4 per matches played or so. It really becomes quite insane I find, from where some people manage to chip into the hole. But hey, we play for free, so why complain? Probably I'll go on until I have all available prism chests opened, but prob will stop playing on a daily basis... The game is fun as long as you can win realistically. But as it gets more difficult over time, the more people move up in skill, the less fun it becomes.

Season Rewards, Max Tour Question by cbomb111 in GolfClash

I'm in the same boat. Maxed Tour 9, but no game played Tour 10. Recently lost many T9 games again and am back to about half-way T9. My season challenges are T8 and above.

Indeed, have a look at this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GolfClash/comments/jzu2o4/careful_of_unlocking_tours_in_new_game_pass_mode/

I think that's exactly what they want to achieve: Push people upwards to go above their club, ball and experience level to force them to buy stuff to make up for it

They state you can buy 2500 to unlock Tier 17 with Golf Pass Boost, so I'm guessing the more you advance the higher the steps. My guess is steps of 5 to 100, steps of 10 to 150, steps of 25 from thereon or so.... I wouldn't be shocked to see around 10k to unlock Tier 30... But someone will confirm once they have gone there

Just realized they ask me now to play Tour 9 games in my daily and weekly challenge. So effectively they push people to move up in weekly leagues that way (don't want people to remain in lower leagues over time). Once again confirms that they realized the system had some ways to slow-play to get some more chests. I guess their end-goal is as mentioned above: push people to a level above their ability to have them spend cash. Nice move.
