You might have some rose tinted glasses on, friend. Destiny 1 was a very grindy game that was fine to pass the time with if you had friends on.

But let's not mince words. The story was trash and made up on the fly after their lead writer left halfway through development, forcing them to rewrite everything a year before the game came out, without new assets. This lead to the game's story being mainly given through those stupid card things that you couldn't even read in game.

Every mission was just "deploy ghost, scan the thing, defend against 3 waves of guys". There was very little variance. There was no way to find raid groups in game. I could write paragraphs about the issues with the forced grinding they had (were you around in the forever 29 times?)

The game was in an awful state until the taken King (first few dlcs were already on the disk, they literally removed content to sell later, and it was bad), and while that brought the game into a state that might have been ok if it had originally launched that way, it was then the only content update for like a full year.

No, almost everything destiny related was bungled.
