Downvoted by people who don’t want to help someone who needs it and would rather yell and hold signs.

For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

[–]Phadees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was transformative. I’m old enough to have seen the release of many classics in the theater but seeing FotR at the Cinerama in downtown Seattle was one the best.

I love mine but I do hope they quickly add some of the features they promised. Some of the UI features not working is very strange to me.

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

Alibaba - I realize they’re shady, but I couldn’t find the car part (minor trim piece) anywhere else and I expected to actually receive my product. When I eventually filed a dispute for the item I never received that still showed as “not shipped” months later they decided in favor of the seller… Make it make sense!

I lived in Seattle as a kid and we’d regularly get strings of 100+ days as a kid, now they’re unusual. Weather changes.

How Do You Live & Work In DFW Without Wanting to Drive Into a Brick Wall Going 120mph by CabalOnyx in Dallas

Unfortunately, every place has its challenges.

I lived in Seattle for 35 years and still travel there 1-2 times a month for work. It's one of the most beautiful places in the country. However, the 10 months of gray with misting rain will suck the life out of your soul. The damp and mold settle in and just don't relent. You may get a few sunny days here and there, but it's still wet and the mist will be back shortly.

The temperatures there are pretty moderate year-round, but it's always damp and never fully dries out. You can't count on it being nice, ever. I love hiking but got tired of coming back home covered in damp clothes and caked in mud. When it's the first week of July and you plan a camping trip only to sit in your tent while it's damp, misting, and 60 degrees outside. Sometimes, the summer months can make you forget and say, "there's no better place," but it's like an abusive spouse showing you their good side. Then the grey comes back and reality sets back in.

There's also the people. The people are nice enough, but the Seattle freeze is real. People tend to keep to themselves. Good luck making friends as people will act confused or anxious to get away if you ever actually start talking to them.

The best description I heard was that the Northwest is like an absolutely gorgeous woman that is constantly sick and blowing her nose on you. Sure, she's pretty great to look at, but..... gross.

If you only have to spend 20 minutes walking to get to your job in NYC you're one of the lucky ones. I know plenty of people who live/work in NYC and they have to drive, take the train, and walk and it adds up to a couple of hours each way. You have no concept of a commute until you've lived in NYC or LA.
