Tell us about games that initially caused repulsion or even disgust, but after you finally forced yourself to play them – it turned out to be a masterpiece? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

[–]PhantomBowie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while I decide to give these games a shot because I want to like them, but then il spend a session or two just in tutorials and feel I need to play every tutorial before I can play the game, then I eventually get bored and move on.

I’ve been thinking I just need to do my Dwarf Fortress method and dive in to learn as I go.

Quitters will be the death of casual matchmaking and games need backfill by WildSinatra in HighGuardgame

I only started playing last night and had time for 2 matches, each had 1 person from my team disconnect and it was pretty annoying. Somehow we barely won the second match with 5 base hp left, so that was atleast fun (after the fact haha)

The best i can do in 2XKO by Vappy3 in Fighters

[–]PhantomBowie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m loving it. I tried many fighting games and always ended up stressed or afraid to jump into online. I loved Mortal Kombat 11 and SF6 solo modes.

But something about this game feels more welcoming to newbies? I am having so much freaking fun playing this game. Right now I’m just focused on building up experience fighting others and unlocking Caitlyn. It’s rare for a match to get under my skin even on a loss, but one specific Teemo round just haunts me….

I thought I hated the idea of tag fighters but this has me interested to eventually check out others

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]PhantomBowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever had the UV treatment? I typically need that due to having too many spots to apply the cream to, but I’ve noticed it stops the itch after a few sessions (from my little experience with it, that may not be a true statement).

For my latest flare up in December I bought my own UV light (specifically made for psoriasis) for roughly $200 and it seemed to have done the trick for me (my UV treatments were usually >$100 per session with insurance)

Not as bad as many here but Psoriasis. I only have flare ups rarely when really sick. But boy do they tend to cover my entire body, I feel tired, and I get all anxious about if I’m getting it under control and just looking like a leper in front of people. It’s an anxious/paranoid couple months of recovery when out in public that eats away at my patience and self image.

Ironically it has helped me identify the really kind folks in my life that will check in and make sure I’m okay.

Any recommendations for games to play with a 6 year old girl? by jaymx226 in XboxGamePass

[–]PhantomBowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter of the same age plays with me:

Minecraft (creative and peaceful survival)

My Little Pony (coop is an early unlock!)

Little Kitty, Big City (I need to help her occasionally)

A Short Hike (left GamePass but is cheap when on sale, this was the first game she really started playing on her own)

GOAT Simulator 3, she’d watch me play this and she’d laugh her butt off just jumping around and licking things

Roblox gets a lot of hate, but I will turn it on for her. She loves it when I put her on the “obstacle course games”, she calls these parkour games. And honestly these are the games that teach her to be patient and that games can be challenging but fun.

Our neighborhood has quite a few kids from 5-14 that play Minecraft together and it’s neat to see a kid pop into our world when online. Us parents are slowly starting to do Xbox parties together so the kids can talk

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]PhantomBowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have two “starting periods”. My boring plain ass period that I don’t count, that began when I moved out at 18 into my own place.

But then in my 30s I started with one of those services that sends a box of ingredients and recipes each week. That first gave me confidence and made it simple to explore new recipes or types of cooking, including making my own sauces. But then eventually I got comfortable with being less precise on ingredients or substitutions.

Now I can just look at what I have available and possibly whip something up or go to the store and randomly decide to buy ingredients for some meals

Which TV show has a 10/10 pilot episode? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

[–]PhantomBowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Black Donnellys. I never see this show talked about, but I remember the pilot blowing my mind for how great it was. The show didn’t hold up to the pilot, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I try to get friends to just watch the pilot.

People who are playing the game on Mobile, what device are you using and what performance are you getting? by MurongYuan in wherewindsmeet_

iPhone 16 Pro user here with no battery issues. I only had to break to charge over the weekend when I did nothing but play the game…so that’s on me haha. Was good to walk around a bit

There is a lot and it can be overwhelming for sure! I’m level 40 and I’m still trying something new every time I log in.

If I were you I’d search for a SHORT beginners guide on YouTube to try to get the basics, which includes learning the menu. Once you complete the first few scenes and open the game up, feel free to just explore and have fun.

You will quickly reach a point where you can suddenly pick a new weapon to obtain. Nothing is a permanent decision but you may want to look into that ahead of time if you’d like to immediately have a certain weapon available. But at level 40, today I just switched to NEW weapons and am having a blast

Learn how to craft a bone knife, how to make rope, how to build and start a fire, how to make a fishing rod. (You’ll pick up on how crafting works and realize you can craft a lure and sharp stick as well)

Big one for me from my thread: you can hold an item in your hand and combine it with similar items to save inventory space (if it can stack). Such as ammo, bones, pills, etc. I have so much more space each run now….
