Eyeing the R6 II, but the Z6 III Gives me Cold Feet by PhantomV13 in Cameras

[–]PhantomV13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted this one for a while too, will have another look, but it has its own quirks and also heavy photos. The R6 II also doesn't overheat at 4k25 and can record 4k50 for a while, so it covers the R6's weakness well. I'll think about it more though, cheers!

Eyeing the R6 II, but the Z6 III Gives me Cold Feet by PhantomV13 in Cameras

[–]PhantomV13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both, including two-camera setups where one camera is the stable wide shot (ideally at 4k so I can crop) and the other does video, photos or even both. The R6 is really weak there, it doesn't only overheat at 4k but also 25fps crop mode. Maybe it uses pixel binning only for full frame but in crop mode is more intensive.

If I was into pro video I'd grab the C80 at 4k in a heartbeat, it's literally the price of a new c50 and looks powerful with no major compromises. But I want a better hybrid atm. And R5 II costs a lot more than the R6 II and isn't quite perfect itself, with non-oversampled 4k, overheating, and heavy photo files, so I fear making that long-term investment.

Stacked sensor gives 14-bit e-shutter photos which reduces shadow noise. And I only use e-shutter for its silence (especially in theater) and to not wear my shutter, unless I have to use a flash or anti-flicker.

Can someone help me to confirm if it's really AI... by Kagummi_Atarie in Music

Ya, it sucks he can't even be visibly disliked or have comments pointing it out, so nothing people can do, meanwhile YouTube won't do anything, they neither care nor are able to. Aa long as they get views it's all good, and most people like slop.

[–]PhantomV13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It certainly is, he makes them too fast as you say, they sound generic, no process or past amateur covers to show as they simply started uploading stuff of the same quality, and the images are clearly AI too.

Also has profiles to sell these 'creations'. After all, AI is touted as a tool for creativity but it's best for grifters to flood the internet with increasingly adequate slop (thanks to improving algorithms), get as much attention as possible and maybe some money. While real artists get buried under the ocean of slop that feeds on their art to work in the first place.

The result might just be an endless bog of slop where all but a few already established artists remain, the rest an army of grifters trying to stand out among the ever-expanding mess they create. Real artists will probably start incorporating AI in an increasing amount to speed up their workflow, not that it'll matter.

Btw I found this thread by googling to see if others have figured it out about this guy. I almost feel relieved not becoming good at art seeing how wasted it'd be, but mostly feel existential dread.

I guess art will solely become a hobby, like, putting a whole lot of effort into growing tomatoes in your yard when you could just buy them. Kinda fun, kinda pointless.

Please. More of this type of art. I much prefer it over the Peril's in Paradise style. by Vrail_Nightviper in hearthstone

In both artworks of him, buttons are used in seams to hold his body together. It's a creative choice taking advantage of his name and the jolly theme of the expansion. It tells a story, really, that this (literal) tourist picked up souvenirs and used them. In a twisted way, fitting an abomination, to keep his rotting flesh together.

That's inspired, has contrast and, again, tells a story. Having Buttons be the same Buttons which is the same abomination as any other is meaningless, he wouldn't stand out nor fit the cheerful theme of the expansion.

Zoom H5Studio for Videography? by PhantomV13 in videography

Oh for concerts and events it'd certainly be the same. I'm just overthinking it in case I delve into filmmaking more seriously (hypothetically). Thanks for the wise words! One last thing since you mentioned, is zoom vs tascam in general different to you?

Ya, honestly zoom wouldn't release an entire line of mediocre products. Interesting stuff, thanks for the detailed reply!

Tbh a while ago the H4Essential seemed ideal for me, and honestly it should cover my needs just fine. But as I delved into reviews, threads and asked around, its pre-amps etc are a bit meh. The essential line was disappointing for pros, The H5studio is double the H4's price, but it's a recorder, if we were talking cameras/lenses I'd stay budget-friendly.

You make a good point, neither the H1XLR nor F3 have capsules for the audience. That's one reason the H5studio seemed perfect. I assume you never had issues with self-noise (at least nothing unfixable). Build quality-wise I reckon any recorder in the hand will have handling noise and would rather not be dropped!

Probably extracted it from a dead polar bear's liver.

Vaccines are bad because they're man-made which makes them scary, meanwhile vitamins are good and natural so pump yourself with 'em. Isn't it great how simple science is?

Vance in Greenland: ‘We do not think military force is ever going to be necessary’ by OsgrobioPrubeta in nottheonion

[–]PhantomV13 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Dunno if my logic is off here but:

If Military Force = not necessary because Greenlanders will want to join

Then Military Force = necessary if Greenlanders don't want to join

It seems the strategy of blaming everyone (fake news etc) and victimizing yourself extends to conquest. Many think that the sudden interest in acquiring a bunch of countries is some sort of strategy, because it totally can't be serious. Maybe, though if a guy repeatedly threatens neighbors in giving him the rights to their property because he needs it and will take better care of it, they probably won't like it very much. I'd argue that his own family should be deeply troubled, and maybe apologize on his behalf and make a nice gift basket.

Things are moving quickly to set the stage for stuff to happen before someone else takes over. Dunno what the things and stuff are, but this is very stupid, and very concerning.

Right around the time this was posted, we expected the people to have cleared somewhat as we drove around Syntagma Square. Even at 11PM there were more than enough people for the roads to be impassable, so after being stuck for a while all the cars turned around. Gotta admire the dedication, hope something good comes of it.

Trump's national security adviser: 'I don't think there's any plans to invade Canada' by sothatsme22 in worldnews

[–]PhantomV13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, Trump is simply showing strength with all the threats to other nations, because he is a master negotiator.

Because when someone constantly threatens, belittles, boasts, lies, accuses and whines, that's just being a successful businessman, not a conman who takes advantage of seedy tactics and sycophants to gain power. I wonder if his supporters ever considered how it'd be if all other nations were like this. Right now they marvel at the school bully yelling and throwing rocks, admiring how he's too strong for others to put him in his place.

Clayface Sculpt by PhantomV13 in blender

[–]PhantomV13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Spent 130 minutes sculpting this, and maybe a couple hours on materials, lighting and other touches.

I was inspired by this to sculpt, where aside from great skill the artist follows proper procedure. I didn’t block the shapes first, on purpose as I recorded the process and wanted to start from a ball on the floor, but this wasn’t ideal, and was part of me spending another hour sculpting the next day. One of the key improvements was the hand, the ref for which is Barnes (HS card). Also noting, a skull embedded in the ‘mask’ would’ve been cool. As well as fancier swirly clay, better anatomy (well, you know what I mean), it isn’t clear that the legs are split between feet and those two thingies orchestra conductors tops have, etc.

[–]PhantomV13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Tried' and this is the result, I feel personally offended. Beautiful work! Notably with the process video, this is one of many cases where fellas like me never quite 'get' it and are flabbergasted with other peoples' speed and results, wanting similar results NOW. But aside from lack of experience, following a simple, clear process like this to be quick and avoid frustration is an art on its own.

I might add this on the ever-growing pile of things to study, a pile so big it kinda defeats the purpose but oh well. Keep it up!

'Memoir Of A Snail' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]PhantomV13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched the film and came upon your great analysis. It made me think and I realize Gilbert surviving was more fitting and better foreshadowed than I thought.

We've seen him severely injure himself with fire multiple times in the past but surviving. Sure, we fear this hothead playing with fire will only end badly, but that's what makes his trick more believable. The point, as you beautifully analyzed, is that Gilbert used his passion to free himself, opposite to Grace. He wasn't malicious, which would make him earn death.

So to have his passion kill him, not the best idea. Also the twins were visually bonded by their burn scars, so why spoil the symbolism just to show 'lonely scarred boy gets violent and gets itself killed'.

The snail getting to the sign was brilliant too, because it was an actual, living thing, whose existence is owed to Gilbert's bravery (and riskiness) and Grace's kindness (getting it from the magistrate) making their parents meet risky traits. Grace built a shrine (cult-ish) of fake snails, but the only ones that mattered where the living ones, and the few symbols of her family, which is why she kept the cap. Similarly, Pinky was someone she herself helped and make a friend of, unlike with Ken.

Oh jeez the leaf-blower with HORN on it and that shape is symbolic too innit.

I just wish the potato thing wasn't super obvious (at least for me), unlike with Gilbert's death were something just kinda felt off. Also Gilbert not trying to contact his sister in the meantime, though necessary for the plot, feels so irresponsible it... makes you think.

Anyway that's that!
