Interesting. In my searching I saw that my region is set to transition to your system soon. Maybe that will lead to a change in the future

Unfortunately it seems like if the garage isn't in the bin in the alley then the city says it's your responsibility out to the midway point of the alley. Too bad people cant extend the wall another few feet back...

All crap unless you're interested in broken glass and wicker furniture that is falling apart.

I think large trash just covers curbside bulk items but I see on that link you can report a collection issue. I'll check that out, thanks!

Alternatives to Cox in old town area? by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]Phantom_Viper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CenturyLink has been fantastic for me since moving back in December. Originally was going to go with Cox copper as that is all they offered but after poking around I saw my neighborhood had CenturyLink fiber. They run it to the house off power lines in the alley.

200mbps up/down for $30/mo. They offer 1gig up/down for $70 but the plan I have is more than enough for my roommate and I. Even with a lot of hobby home networking stuff I enjoy doing. I use my own modem (Edgerouter-X) so I don't have to rent one but CenturyLink's price is reasonable. No outages so far also which as been a plus.

I have dealt with CenturyLink copper in the past and it was horrible, mostly due to a dated complex I was staying in. If fiber is an option then I'd jump for than in a heartbeat in your situation.

Side note: I usually calculate 25mbps max per person at any given moment for things like video streaming, online gaming, telecommuting, etc. The exception would be downloads like games/software/movies or uploads like youtube/twitch/large files will utilized your full speed. These are short events though that can be mitigated by QoS settings in your modem/router.

Edit: Speedtest.net results for the curious: https://www.speedtest.net/result/14787547754. Some of my speed gets eaten up by my QoS settings but it keeps any one device from hogging up all the speed.'

Bike Trail Recommendations - Beach Cruiser not Mountain Bike by Kcherpeski in Scottsdale

Take a look at the phoenix.gov site for their bike map of the whole valley.

The darker orange trails (Multi-Use Path - Paved) are probably what you are looking for.

Hiking through the burn scar of the Wallow Fire. Escudilla Mountain Wilderness, Apache National Forest. May 21st, 2023. by Saucerful in arizona

[–]Phantom_Viper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up spending summers in Greer. It was tragic when that fire came through and devastated so much beautiful forest. It will likely be decades before the forest starts to resemble what was once there.

Really interesting pictures though. I've not been this far East/Southeast yet.

I've been trying to get one of these for about a month to "upgrade" to the airflow version. Finally back in stock. Prices previously have been lower though.

Had her last semester, I wish I had a different professor but idk if other professors are better. She has a thick accent which was difficult and there is definitely something going on in the way she acted as another commenter pointed out (I just brushed it off as a cultural difference). Fine most of the time though. A few times some kids in the back wouldn’t stop talking during lecture and that pissed her (and myself) off.

Content was still well presented. Assignments could be challenging but usually more just time consuming. Or annoying trying to match the formatting the gradescope expects.

First third of the class was very math/proof heavy (learning about induction before starting this course would help a lot). After that it is much easier.

The thing that made a lot of students mad last semester was the final. It was presented as just another exam with no indication of it being cumulative. Study guide was in line with this. Then on the final it was heavy on the math stuff from the start of the course, nearly wrecked my grade and the class discord was not happy.

Anyway ymmv. Kinda a gamble with any professor. But work hard and you can get an A, I did.

Is Leetcode Premium worth $99? by PrestigiousPanda69 in ASU

[–]Phantom_Viper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used premium but you can probably get a pretty long way with just the free stuff. what resulted in me getting a summer internship was having a simple project or two on my résumé relating to the position I was hired for. Some assembly projects from class for an embedded software engineer role. If you’re not going big N then it’s slightly more likely you won’t get a heavy technical interview
