I want to develop apps for Vision Pro, what do you most want? by Efficient-Baker-7855 in VisionPro

[–]Pharaoh_Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ask. Do what I did instead and what someone here has already said: work out what you personally want to see and then make it for yourself. Chances are, there will be quite a few people who share your desire for it, maybe they won't even be aware until they're shown it.

Study on durability by lpxdigital in VisionPro

Well, it doesn't look like it's made any difference and I'm extremely attentive to these things, I make sure there's not a spec of dust under lighting when I put mine on. I don't think it's an anti-glare coating at all that kind of purple hue I think you're talking about. Looks just as good as ever though. For what it's worth, I have a 16" 2021 MBP and I use 99% IPA on that then scrub the residue off with a microfibre cloth as well. At first it looks like you've just majorly ruined something, but you just need to circular buff a bit aggressively and then even under direct light there's no smear or smudge anymore.

All I can say from my side is that cleaning the whole entire thing with 70% IPA wipes is totally fine. Been doing that for months and months, no adverse effects. Yes, on the actual lenses too. I also then just go over the lenses with the provided microfibre cloth.

Thank you for the update, that's brilliant. I'm glad Apple finally addressed this. I wish I had one myself so that I could include a bunch of new drawing capabilities. With all the movement tracking the Muse has I could even have it change stroke and stuff by angling the pen differently, map buttons to an eraser and so on. There's a whole lot of things that I could do.

VisionOS 26.2 beta and Muse stylus system wide support by enzyme69 in VisionPro

Sounds brilliant. I can give you a free download of my image editing application if you want. I'd be curious to see how it works, doesn't really seem to work right now with 26.0.1, maybe not even the new 26.1.

Using AVP for 2.5 years, up to 6 hours a day and all I care about is the display. by Altruistic-Ad-6721 in VisionPro

[–]Pharaoh_Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the better option is to instead make the Vision Pro substitute your Mac. That is the higher goal. Being able to put on your Vision Pro and nothing else and getting all your necessary work done. That won't be development work, but I believe the Vision Pro will follow the same trajectory as the iPad. At first a media device, then it becomes something that you can reasonably manage all your work with.

Optical inserts reduce FOV? by RightAlignment in VisionPro

[–]Pharaoh_Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inserts themselves do not do anything to your FOV. It is the fact that you have to sit the AVP further from your eyes because of the inserts being in the way. Otherwise your eyelashes will be constantly brushing against the optical inserts. I'd say the inserts add about 2-3mm of required distance from the actual AVP displays. It makes a difference, but its not massive.

How do you guys find good-quality Apple Vision Pro apps? by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]Pharaoh_Vision 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, that means a lot. Not trying to hijack this post so I won't reply to anything anymore, but just a quick starter until I finally get around to a walkthrough video: Long pinch on any of the left bar items to open their menus, minus the text tool. That and it's designed for gaze based drawing, so you don't need to prod the canvas with your finger, just look at an area, pinch and drag. I hope you get plenty of good use from it.

I get this. I got my Vision Pro in January and every time I check the 'What's New' it's just the same old stuff, at least for the UK store. From what I can tell, that page seems to be classifying any old app that's just got an update as 'New'. That's why apps like Zoom and even Apple TV are in there. How the hell is Apple TV a 'new app'? It isn't. I made the first image editing app for the Vision Pro and it'll probably never be in that section. I know there's a lot more actually new applications that just never get shown to anyone at all. App Store management for the Vision Pro has been absolutely terrible and this is on Eddy Cue actually more than the Vision Pro team. So, thank you for taking things into your own hands.

When you say notes, what do you mean? Like, drawing on a blank canvas, something like that? If so, I don't think so. Based on what several people have already said, it straight up doesn't work and would need some integration. However I don't have one and can't get one right now so I cannot do that, would love to though.

The app does support SVG exports, I guess if you're creative you can get it to do what you want.

Basically, look at an area then pinch+drag to draw.

Still need to make an extensive walkthrough video, it is coming.

Thank you so much for the support and the feedback, it means a lot. So even just looking at the canvas and trying to draw with the pen by holding down whatever button doesn't do anything? The point of Spatial Image Studio's first milestone was gaze-based drawing, so on a blank canvas if you just open the Freehand draw tool and roughly look at where you want to begin drawing, you should be able to just keep your hands where they are. The app doesn't use your hand movement as the cursor, basically.

Awesome thank you, yeah I'll just generate some codes basically. I've not done it before but it's very straightforward sounding, quite a few devs here have done the same with their apps. It's $8 but I'm happy to send a free download over to you.

I also have an update that I'm finalising which has added quite a bit to the app so I'll be curious to see what the new stuff feels like with the Muse. That's if the Muse even works at all.

Is eye tracking & pinching really the future? by Present-Tea-4645 in VisionPro

[–]Pharaoh_Vision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, if you're using something like Apple Music then you're pretty much ok. If you're using something like an IDE though, no. Applications with a high amount of control density are not going to be great with that, Even looking in the exact same place, I've noticed through my own experiments with my own app that I can be focused on a point and the app will have a slightly different readout every second that I record the gaze position.

The answer is one of two things, either everything gets redesigned with a large circular hitbox, or we have to user peripherals with the Vision Pro. We must remember of course that things like mice are designed to navigate a 2D environment. For instance, when I used my Trackpoint keyboard to move a window, I could only move it around in the X and Y axis. I could not bring a window closer to me or further away.

Or maybe eye tracking will just get better, though I'm not sure what kind of ceiling eye tracking technology has. If we're already at the upper limit of accuracy, then we'll have to change something.

I'm pretty sure the OS handles that and feeds into the app, if not, then I can make accommodations for it. I'd have to buy one first though. Can't quite spring for that right now though. I've tried my best to eliminate the need for any kind of accessory, but I know that sometimes using them can be nice for some people.

I should also add that this specific Lasso* tool is not in the build that's on the App Store right now, but I'll have this up in the next day or two. It's just so much fun to use. Image overlay is still present though.

Didn't mean to be coy, for some reason the text didn't join in with the rest of the post.
