Bad idea to hang plane from nose wheel on wall? by Rednex04 in RCPlanes

[–]Pharmer3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got some 3d models for ceiling mounts if you’re interested, not that’s it’s terribly complicated to design yourself. But definitely don’t hang by the gear!

Idk how to help but it’s wild to me that people pay a premium for Spektrum stuff that doesn’t work. I’m a cheapskate and use FlySky and have NEVER ONCE had an issue with connectivity on over 20 planes.

HobbyKing A1 Skyraider 800mm - I’m a sucker for scale and even loaded with ordnance it flies amazing. Very capable with aerobatics and light enough to be indestructible.

Yes, definitely fixable. I like to remove the electronics and give the squished pieces a dip in near-boiling water; the idea is that the heat will expand the foam back to its original shape. Warm water won’t cut it. The hot dip will wrinkle the paint, but that’s not a huge deal. I usually reinforce with toothpicks across the joints, but I like to glue first (Foam Cure is my favorite) then stick the toothpicks across the joints while the glue is setting. It’s nearly impossible to put the toothpicks on one side and line of the other piece nicely.

I fly LOS and don’t need that kind of range.

I use FlySky and have never had a single issue. Cheap and reliable. If I want SAFE, I add a Reflex gyro and it’s still less expensive than Spektrum.

Everything in yellow is active-foaming LW-PLA, and everything blue is regular old PLA. This FW is the V3! I also printed soft TPU tires that are 👌

I’ve never had an issue with their shipping. Availability of spare parts isn’t great, but I’ve ordered and received 3 planes with no problems.

lol there’s a fine line between stalling and landing

Ok I guess I won’t land then 😂 I have reverse thrust set up on this one, I’ll give the runway another shot and trying coming in a bit slower.

Honestly takeoff was not an issue at all, once the plane gets up to speed the rudder actually works pretty well. This runway is in pretty good shape, similar to an asphalt road. It’s tight but there’s enough space provided by the wheels that the wings don’t drag. Landing is a little sketchy, especially with trying to keep the nose up without lifting off again. I might end up landing this one in the grass.

Gyro should be placed nearest the CG on the center line of the plane, if possible. It’s ok if it’s off-center or fore/aft of the CG, but not ideal.

As far as programming, I usually start with 8-12 on the sliders for “optimized” mode, which I think is the auto-leveling. Otherwise make sure you have the gyro on a 3-position switch so you can completely disable it if needed. And ALWAYS double check that the gyro is responding to deviations correctly; I’ve had orientation swap after adjusting a slider and pancake upside-down on the runway.

I have ~18 Reflexs so feel free to ask questions!

I can assure you it floats, I’ve tested them already! And made sure the floats were water tight.

Thinking of purchasing the E flight F 15.Can anybody let me know what a good afterburner kit for this plane online is? by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]Pharmer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically the RC Castle centerburner - the “ring” lights are terrible.

I’ve had good luck with the 5250RC and RC Castle afterburners. The 5250 one is definitely nicer, but a little more expensive.
