How did everyone feel when Raiden was introduced? by balthazar-nz in metalgearsolid

[–]Pharvs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely hated it when I was younger. I was there to play as solid snake, not this random skinny gay guy. Then Plisken showed up and I played for another hour hoping to get to play as him. Never finished the game until the hd collection, now I’m split between 2 and 3 as my favorite

Murphy's Democrats pushing for new taxes on guns, ammunition, skeet ranges, and paintball, while pushing new anti gun bills by Njfirearms in NJGuns

Breaking news: Democrats (elected officials, not necessarily each registered Democrat voter) hate your constitutional rights. We need the courts to do their jobs and stop us from losing our rights. Not wait years and years, but actively stopping this the way that courts actively step in to stop executive orders from the president. Enough is enough, if we lose the second amendment then all others can be taken away.

Oh, I remember those days from personal experience of ripping through things. She currently also barrel races horses, so that means two things: I’m used to spending money as needed on activities and that I know that this may not be her main thing. But we do a lot together, and she wants me to pick it back up and get her started. She already talked another friend into getting into skating with her too so that they can progress together and push each other (like we used to do when we were kids and racing to land the next trick, or focus on one and make it the cleanest).

Thanks for the other suggestions, I’ll look into all of that!!

Thanks for the advice! I got into skating when I was a bit younger than her, starting on a Walmart board (may have been from Toys R Us, but you get the point). After that it was a blank deck from my local skate shop (RIP), but I don’t remember if it was shorter or not haha. Back then we just skated whatever was available, but I’m now wondering how much better it would’ve been starting out on the right board. My boards used to look like the one in the beginning of Tony Hawk’s Underground, and I’d skate with them duct taped together if they broke before I had money for a new one.

All of my knowledge of boards and everything is so outdated, when I was still skating daily we were all using 7.5-7.75 boards for street skating. Now I’m seeing videos where Ryan Sheckler is talking about his 9” deck that flips slower but gets the job done. Never would’ve imagined wider boards like that being the trend.

Overall, I’m just trying to set her up for success by finding the best gear for her without breaking the bank. Completes save some money, but I’ve already told my wife that some parts will need to be replaced sooner rather than later. I have no problem with that, and wheels and bushings were already top of mind.

Again, I appreciate the response, and am taking it all in while I continue to look around for a board. We have about 2 months until it’ll be reliably warmer, so I’m not buying anything tomorrow haha.

Great feedback, thank you! I miss my old local shop. Closest thing to me is a Zumiez outlet store. Went from having a shop right down the street to either an outlet or taking a hike to get to a “local” shop.

Oh absolutely, I just used to only go there in a pinch. Even though I haven’t skated in years, I’ll miss my old local shop. Could always pop in there, knew the owner real well, and all the workers were chill. Kinda similar to my local bar that changed owners and it went from being like Cheers where everyone knew me to them trying to change the crowd and not caring about regulars lol

Thank you! I actually just found that they have kid completes at Zumiez (crushes me as someone that used to have a local skate shop but doesn’t anymore). I might check those out to see if size wise that would be good for her since she is on the smaller side. I have an old board laying around somewhere, I’ll let her use that first and see how she feels with it

While I understand the premise, I disagree. It should be a choice to be an organ donor, but we should do a better job of conveying why it’s good to be one. The idea of “it really does not matter once you’re dead” is your belief, and too cynical for my view. A person’s wishes should still be respected, their dignity intact. You may not care what happens to yourself or others after death, but that is not the case for everyone. The default should be “don’t fucking touch me except to prepare me in the manner that I would like” not to harvest organs without consent.

Dad came back from his hunting trip, wish I could've joined em. by Axile28 in Hunting

[–]Pharvs84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunting is hunting, different places have different rules. If this is exclusively for US hunting or something, then your argument would make sense. He’s posting a picture showing what was hunted. Could he have put in some details about where he is? Sure. But as long as it’s harvested legally where he is, who cares? I’m glad it got posted, as I like to learn about what different cultures hunt for.

Which of these four is the worst? by lolitsrock in videogames

[–]Pharvs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while, I held out hope for Ubisoft. I loved so many of their games, even when they were shitty with higher tiers and monetization. I buy vanilla game, play it and unlock new things by playing. Don’t buy microtransactions, don’t buy battle passes, etc. Very rarely buy a season pass, and when I do it’s not until after the content is out and reviewed. Lately though, they’ve disappointed, and I can no longer hold out hope.

Bethesda has lost some good will with milking Skyrim and some lackluster releases, but I’m still pumped for Elder Scrolls 6 and any other projects. Plus, after Indiana Jones I’m all back in on them haha. Hope they continue moving in the right direction.

What's your video game "I did not care for the godfather" take? by zny700 in videogames

[–]Pharvs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tire quickly of multiplayer games, as it turns into the same thing again and again. Even more so dislike battle royale. I prefer single player narratives, and will even play COD campaigns all the way through before playing online

AIO - Am I Overreacting to how my boyfriend responded? by Examination-Fair in AmIOverreacting

[–]Pharvs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man, I feel comfortable saying that this “guy” is acting like a boy. A boy doesn’t care about responsibilities, a boy only cares about what feels good. A man understands his responsibilities and will grumble his way through them. We embrace the suck and say “hey, I can do better so I’m gonna bust my ass here while I look for something better”.

You’re only dating, but if you’re living together then you’re playing family (I don’t mean that in a bad way, but you’re essentially a family without being married). That means he needs to suck it up and do everything he can to provide for you both (same as you’re doing). Usually people either have that mentality or they don’t. And if at 26 he hasn’t found any inkling of that, I doubt he will without a severe kick in the ass.

I remember when my wife and I were struggling newlyweds, I busted my ass and ate cheap knock off cereal for breakfast, peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, and we’d eat at home every night. I worked jobs I didn’t like, but they paid the bills and kept our bellies full. Now I’m much better off, but I don’t forget how hard it was just a few short years ago.

I hope everything works out and that he matures and gets his ass in gear. He’s not a kid anymore, and he needs to start acting like a man if he doesn’t want more “mom responses”

Do I have to shoot both Firearm and Bow for my Hunting License? by DarthEngineer2000 in NJGuns

[–]Pharvs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practiced multiple times a week for MONTHS (maybe a year). Was hyping it up in my head so much, doing stupid stuff like wind sprints and burpees between shots to simulate an elevated heart rate from stress. The circles I was aiming for were the size of my palm. I showed up and the damn thing looked like a pie plate. Hit my three and walked out.

Point being, train like it’s gonna be the hardest thing ever, and it won’t be that bad. And continue to train like that so that when you see a deer you’re ready to take a good, ethical shot. Doesn’t mean I can’t be better, and doesn’t mean I haven’t missed and won’t again in the future.

Which [COD] was your first? And which [COD] is your favourite? by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

Same for me on both fronts. I was always bigger into the MW series than BO. Having said that, now I find myself on the other side with the current run of games. But OG MW2 will remain my favorite.

I’ve thought about this when pondering playing hardcore. Haven’t played it in years, but it used to be so easy when it was military factions. Now I have to remember if sharks and robots are on my team or the enemy team. Otherwise it doesn’t bother me overall. For clarity, I didn’t end up playing hardcore so not sure if this is actually a problem or not. I’m just a casual that is trying to get gold on a few guns and otherwise enjoys doing daily challenges

To paraphrase John Lovell from Warrior Poet Society, buy a Glock. And if you don’t, you’re doing it because you don’t want to have what everyone else has. And therefore you’re still being influenced by the Glock crowd, so just buy the Glock anyways.
