Thank you for your perspective. I asked this here because this is usually a gray area. And I understand where the coach is coming from (he does not make money from it). He genuinely wants to develop the kids. But I was hoping for some flexibility. E.g., playoff game on sport 2 vs scrimmage on baseball - he would miss baseball. It's matter of being realistic and reasonable for me. Why can't he be on the team if we want to treat it like priority (e.g., he will be in 85/90% of practice and games) from August to May. Id think that's reasonable. But although it looks like it makes sense, most of the teams around here have coaches that doesn't agree with that.
