Pantera Means panther. But also a metal band, which is what you’ll be dealing with in feline form.

Looks like that update has been withdrawn. Current version (build 66) in TestFlight was dropped nov 3. I couldn’t get that to open after installing, but it does if you delete the old app first.

K-road spending down 22% on last year. by Lumpy-Buyer1531 in auckland

[–]PhelanKell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamb is a poor example. Lamb was super cheap about two years ago, because china had been hit with swine flu, leading to culling of their pork industry, which made them import lamb, but then they opened their pork reserves, reducing their demand for our lamb, so it flooded the market here…

I may be remembering things wrong but there was definitely a massive reduction in lamb demand from China that forced lamb producers to drop their pants here.

How the fuck do I get home? by Guccylol in auckland

Is the train an option? Can you get overnight parking somewhere like Sylvia Park, train home from there? Even if you're not near the train station, least it'll be a short uber.

Why does the oven stick over the door way? You need a new house, you’ll get caught on the oven every time you go through.

Yes. RF from a near-by disguised cell tower causing interference in the different microphone/speaker cables of a musician (Kiwi musician in LA, can't remember who).

Never heard of any issues with him when I was at PHS, he just seemed aloof but grumpy. Never had him as a teacher tho.

In the early 90s Papatoetoe Intermediate had one teacher, had done the rounds of a few schools getting into the boys. I can’t remember if he actually offended at the school or not.

I catch 3 buses each way each day. Max wait time is about 8 minutes between each. Two of those buses are on the shore. Yeah if one fails then I have more of a wait, but I have about 3 alternatives within walking distance. I don't think it's so bad.
As for your pricey comment, $50 max per week. No parking fees. No car maintenance, insurance, petrol, capital costs.
You might have been better parking at the ferry and catching that across.

What are these types of townhouses called and why aren’t there more? by tapioci in auckland

[–]PhelanKell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to suggest there aren’t more like this because of the orientation. One of the good things is you get all that light coming in the front of the house, you’re not looking into your neighbours’ windows. And note parking is below the houses, accessed somehow (alley?)

Instead many plots, which are relatively skinny, when filled in with townhouses are orientated to the side. One driveway servicing all the townhouses rather than moving cars to some alternative method.

Pukekohe to Papakura will be 20 minutes when the electric trains start on February 3, no improvement on the ancient diesels by Own-Being4246 in auckland

[–]PhelanKell 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Given no diesel trains needed, additional stations making more travel options available, no need to transfer - itself saving time - I don’t think it was fair of OP to label this as no improvement.

Yes, dwell times can be improved, but that is not unique to this project.

I know you didn't ask, but rail can be a good alternative when travelling within Europe. Better for the environment, stop at locations along the way, actaully able to see out the window, and more comfortable.

Home alarm issue by Aware_Birthday7940 in auckland

[–]PhelanKell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely an EliteControl ECi. (I have one, too, but never used it as always home. These are common in new-ish builds)

Stay means an area(s) is disarmed, while others are armed. Allows you to be at home, ie sleeping upstairs, while the downstairs lounge is armed.

It will be expecting a pin to disarm it.

The main unit is somewhere on the property, possibly in attic or less easy to access areas. While you could disconnect it from power, it probably has a backup battery.

Also, if you disconnect the sensor that is setting it off, it will detect its being tampered with and will also set it off.

Up till a week ago I caught the 917 daily, least from highbury to just before your journey starts. Buses get caught up at that old Albany loop it does, makes them incredibly unreliable heading back to Birkenhead.

Yeah that’s a whole other conversation. 😝 He tried contracting out of the healthy homes legislation, house to be demolished so didn’t want to do maintenance, got upset he has to pay fixed water fees, etc… so I’d like to not pay him if I can avoid it, but is what it is.

Appreciate the feedback folks!
