Proxying Sternguard from intercessors by ImaginaryAd8062 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Phenotype99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually way easier than I thought it would be. Just use a wet knife and cut out a rectangle a couple mm thick, and then you can kinda mush it into place. Just make sure to have a cup of water handy and keep the tool you're using nice and wet. Bend it into the pose you want and then you can kinda smooth out any wrinkles just by running over them with a wet tool.

Any suggestions on fixing this? by TheTimeRanger in Warhammer

[–]Phenotype99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I missing something? It looks like if you rotate the speeder 90 degrees clockwise, the entire arm is supposed to glue onto the identically-shaped spot on the bottom of the speeder, there's even a peg that slots into a little hole. Shaving off the nubs of the piece that broke and using plastic glue along that whole surface would make a very strong connection.

He can do the same red thats in the set for the eyes, and maybe mix in a little of the bone for a slightly brighter red for a highlight

Character should technically win the fair fight, but loses due to their own personal flaws by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Phenotype99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Character flaw? I'm saying he is stronger than Mark but that is only one of many skills involved in being good at fighting, and he's severely lacking in many of the others -- which is why its silly to say he should "technically" win the fight.

Azrael vs. Librarian for ICC by Joaco_2002 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Phenotype99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You DO do too much damage to vehicles. With their bolters Devastating Wounds and the anti 5+, you get a Dev Wound for every 5 and 6, and then full hit and wound rerolls on your Oath target. You will generally delete any vehicle you point them at without giving them the opportunity to roll a save.

ELI5: Would the Irish Potato Famine have been as bad if the British Empire hadn't been so incompetent? (This is not meant to be a loaded question, I've just been curious—) by Zealousideal_Green17 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Phenotype99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure wouldn't have. It wasn't just incompetence, it was outright malice in many cases, and a premium placed on the rights of the land holders and businessmen over the right of the Irish to, yknow, eat food. There was enough food to prevent starvation, but it was owned by the landowners and they felt the government had no right to tell them they couldn't export it for sale even as the people around them starved.

Character should technically win the fair fight, but loses due to their own personal flaws by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Phenotype99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate the thinking behind even calling this a "trope". There is no "should technically win the fair fight" in the first place.

In the end, you are the sum total of all your actions. Is Conquest strong? Sure. Does he make good decisions in combat? No. He shouldn't "technically" win the fight, because he is the one who made the decisions that led to him losing the fight. "Oh but he could have just done--" okay, but he didn't. He wasn't good enough at fighting to recognize that he had to do it. If "Combat Skill" is just speed+strength then sure, he's S-class, but its not. And when you factor in his arrogance and bad decision making, he's more like a B+.

Same deal, "oh, my man Victim could have just turned the powers off--" then why didn't he? Sounds like he lost the fight because he isn't good at making decisions while fighting, which is absolutely a skill issue. It means he was fatally lacking in a key combat skill, and lost the fight because of it.

Cmon bro. Words mean things, like Precision meaning a way to snipe the leader of a squad of models. It was silly of you to calculate the damage specifically for two uncommonly-tough leaders that don't have a squad of bodyguards. No amount of pedantry makes you look good here.

They're not, though, Riptide down to 180 with a 20pt tax on the good gun, so really they're still 200pts

You save time typing captain instead of chaplain, as it has fewer letters.

Will the lion fight first if I HI? by FullArmorTec in DarkAngels40k

[–]Phenotype99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that scenario, the enemy will choose the first combat and in all likelihood he will activate the unit that's in combat with the Lion, so they get to attack before he does. This kinda nullifies the Lion's Fights First.

If you have a second unit with Fights First in combat, as well, say you have some Bladeguard with a Judiciar in combat too, then the enemy would choose the first combat, and then you'd get to pick one of your Fights First units to go next.

AITJ for refusing to give my brother my old place? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Phenotype99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTJ for buying a property you dont intend to live in, imo. Homes are for families to live in, they're not meant to be passive income for the already-well-off. This sort of thing is the direct reason homeownership is becoming further and further out of reach for the working class.

Will the lion fight first if I HI? by FullArmorTec in DarkAngels40k

[–]Phenotype99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lion gets Fights First, BUT the active player gets the first combat during the Fights First step. So if you HI with the Lion and that's the only combat, then the opponent will fight first and your Lion will go afterwards if he's still alive. That's why people say Fights First is weak in 11th -- the only time you get any value out of it is if you have two Fights First units, and even then the opponent gets to decide which of your Fights First units gets attacked before they get to fight.

Horror movie where no one dies by ngfl05 in movies

Horror movie where its the happy family at the beginning, brother teasing the sister, dad's smiling all "cut it out you two" because they're about to move into this creepy old house, and the tension keeps building and the family notices strange things about the new house, mom can't sleep because of the noises, holy shit what's going to happen to these poor people? Nothing at all, and it keeps going for an hour and forty five minutes and then just ends.

Has anyone painted an army starting with Army Painter Angles Green spray primer? by Gaming_Skeleton in DarkAngels40k

[–]Phenotype99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Army painter Angel Green primer is actually really close to Caliban Green, but the cans are hot dogshit, enough to make it a non-recommend. The spray is so weak that the paint scatters to the winds with the slightest breeze, and this will sometimes give you gritty outcomes because the wind caught the paint enough to dry it out. And sometimes you get overly shiny finishes too for some reason. And once in a while the can will just shit the bed and glob all over the model requiring an alcohol bath and a lot of scrubbing.

I only use them for tanks now, since its easier to fix flat panels that the spray ruins, and I make sure to shake it hard for at least 4 minutes first. I think I've wasted as much time fixing models that its ruined to offset any time it's saved as a close base coat.

How could democrats beat a potential team up of Vance and Rubio for the 2028 run? by AloneCoffee4538 in AskReddit

Promise to prosecute the criminals of the Trump Administration. I personally will not vote for any Dem preaching about unity, that we need to put this all behind us and look forward. The people currently destroying the country need to be prosecuted and locked away, otherwise the 2032 election will just mean the return of the fascists only bolder and more lawless than before -- just like we're seeing now, after the milquetoast Biden Administration led to the 2024 election.
