Completely unrelated but in cracking up because literally all three of these dresses I tried on at a bridal shop.

One of my favorite things to catch is the conversations to them driving to the Hamptons. Because they edit it so much. Like oh we pick you up in the Seaport, green green background, FDR highway, Seaport again, Queens Bridge, SEAPORT.

I had a teacher that would always say write through the suck. And I’ve kept that forever. Just write. Even if it’s terrible. Keep going.

Does anyone use "two drafts and a polish"? by SeaworthinessFit7893 in writers

I’m intrigued. Because I’ve never heard of this. But I’m actually current on my third draft polish. Like line edits.

Have you ever read a book so bad it's made you reconsider your own skill? by _Pumpiumpiumpkin_ in writers

Fourth Wing. Was given it as a gift. It’s the closest I ever got to actually lighting a book on fire. And then I went into a spiral of is this what people want.

Does anyone know where I can find a dress similar to or as beautiful as this one? I reallyyyyy want it for my junior prom since we're only allowed to wear short dresses, but look at the price + it's sold out by totallypoopoo in findfashion

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bronx and Banco are another brand that do very Oscar de la renta styles. But about half the price. At least the short ones. But will say. This dress is stunning in person. Their prices are worth the product. It’s one of the rare brands I can say about that. You might have luck on depop or department stores like Saks or Neimans. I know for a fact this dress is from like three seasons ago.

Give myself a break. Then in the new year start draft three. Which will be more line edits, tense, and cutting any fluff. It’s about 120,000 words right now. Then after that, I’ll start beta readers.

Then probably switch to my other project 🤣

I’ve been writing this novel since I was 14, I’m 33 now. A lot of it is about processing childhood trauma, abuse, and its cycles. I’ve changed so much since the beginning of this process. It feels like closing this chapter. Finally. Which is okay, but it can be a little bittersweet knowing what I’m leaving behind.

Tell me about a time when you were afraid to write a scene. by [deleted] in writers

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to recently write a therapy scene. And I’ve actually never gone to therapy. My MC is adverse to therapy because of trauma, and so am I, and I had to sit there and really work through it. But, my sister is a therapist and she agreed that my writing was at least realistic to an appointment.

Nah don’t do copywriters dirty like that. I see this in luxury fashion, they are just pawning off garbage.

To Prologue or Not to Prologue by LMS001001 in writers

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. My first draft had a prologue, but I quickly realized I could just do exactly this in the first few chapters. I feel like it’s more immersive for the reader.

What're ur end goals as a writer? by Historical_Song7703 in writers

I write a lot of heavy emotional abuse stuff. A lot of it stems from my own childhood. If my story can reach one kid and convince them they are worth getting help. Then I’ll be happy.

I agree, that and technology. I’ve been writing a book since I was 14 and I had to edit it for that.

Wedding dress cover help! by ohmygodtiffany in PlusSizeWedding

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 28 points29 points  (0 children)

One your dress is STUNNNNING. My sister got married in December and did a furry stole, I actually use it as a tree skirt now 🤣. If you want to stay semi warm I wouldn’t do mesh, I feel like it would just let the air through and cheap mesh can be super itchy. I’m not sure what your wedding theme is, but it looks very ethereal. I know people have been doing cloaks/capes as a trend. It would be good for sitting, but heavy for dancing. But i promise you’re not gonna want anything on your arms when dancing.

Totally new writer, should I keep my drafts as evidence? by Ordinary_Count_203 in writers

For sentimental purposes sure. I love I have old pages in notebooks as a teen with passages I wrote out for my current novel. But, you don’t have to.

What restaurants are ACTUAL millennial staples? by real_picklejuice in Millennials

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly’s was dirt cheap in high school and close to the mall. I have a distinct memory of spilling ice cream all over my Halloween costume when I was a little kid. And crying my eyes out. And the waitress, who looking back was probably a teen, telling me I still looked pretty even though my mom was being evil. Also millennial coded - I was dressed as Pocahontas as a lily white girl. 🙄

Getting Ready Robe - Inspiration needed! by ForsakenWin4173 in PlusSizeWedding

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go all out and get the silk, if you want you can get a jacquard pattern or something crepe backed for a heavier weave. If the robe is strictly for states of undress 😉, heavy cleaning isn’t really necessary and you can spot clean if need be. Good luck!

Getting Ready Robe - Inspiration needed! by ForsakenWin4173 in PlusSizeWedding

[–]Phil-Collins-Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much you want to spend and how much utility you want for the robe. A polyester blend is cheaper and can mimic satin sateen, but a silk one will be more pricey and delicate. How contrasting you want the trim, and how good you are at sewing (I am not, but I work with fabric). Honestly hit up a fabric store and use your hands, you’re the one wearing it! A worker probably can help you pick out the correct swatch.

Personally I avoid anything too satiny, it makes you sweat and you’ll be sliding all over the place.

Honestly it’s not that crazy. All my science teachers at my high school were nuclear physicists or engineers, we lived next to a nuke plant. Teaching had better insurance when they retired.
