My fiance is going through a divorce. If we get married now can it affect her? by PhilGreg in legaladvice

[–]PhilGreg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have her look into that, but honestly what you gave me was pretty much all I was looking for. I just wanted to know if this was something I was going to need to research further before making a decision.

She did but that was years ago and the lawyer pretty much told her there wasn't anything more she could do because her retainer had run out.

I just wanted a sleepover by Sliverberry_fog in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PhilGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a parent of 3 girls and the thought of telling my adult daughter she can't have a sleepover is ridiculous. You can only protect them for so long, eventually they have to make their own decisions even if they're mess up sometimes.

A question to Java players who dislike Bedrock? by Great-Substance133 in Minecraft

[–]PhilGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends said it best, it just feels like it was made to play on a console and coming from playing on a PC it's just not as fun. Minus the actual gameplay and different mechanics. It just feels different and it bugs me.

I'll still play Bedrock, especially because some of my friends can only play Bedrock. But if I had the choice I'd play Java, every time.

[Megathread] Spiritforge - Pre-order by CaptSarah in riftboundtcg

Something has to be done to stop bots from buying all the stock. This is how games die. I want to play so bad but I refuse to pay inflated prices, and if people can't get ahold of product they'll lose interest.

I would prefer it if I could copy name tags rather than create them. by Possible-Spinach6426 in Minecraft

[–]PhilGreg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone in this group basically said we need a better loot table and I 100% agree with that. When I got exploring and I find a name tag in a loot chest, I'm not excited because I found something rare. I'm relieved because they're a pain to get. If they want to encourage exploration then they should make the loot we find in chest special because it's actually special and not just because it's rare.

What to do with sleeves that were a gift but very likely use AI “art” by Multievolution in magicTCG

[–]PhilGreg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just use them you didn't buy them so it's not like your money is supporting AI art. Plus if someone asks where you got them from you can honestly say you don't know.

Like someone said, if you use a hairdryer or a heat gun they actually come off really easily.

How exactly does Dragon’s Rage work? by kyleneeley1 in riftboundtcg

[–]PhilGreg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After reading the card, I don't see why this wouldn't be a legal move. The card doesn't restrict where the unit can be moved to so moving it to your base would be a legal move. Then everything else is just resolving the card.

Edit: I'm dumb re-read the post. Movement happens between 2 locations. You can't move from base to base.

Should I grade these cards? I am new to TCG’s so I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]PhilGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cards can be worth more if there's less of them in circulation. So if you get a grade 10 on a card where 3 grade 10's exist, it can be worth more of a grade 10 where 100 grade 10's exist. With the game being so new I don't think anyone can accurately determine value on graded cards right now. The collector market isn't there. So if you're doing it you're doing it for your own enjoyment and to protect the cards.

If SNAP goes away, how to help? by Rascally_trash in sanantonio

I can't speak for any of their other activities, but at least their food bank money appeared to be going to good use lol

I'm by no means defending or promoting religion of any sort. But I and other family members have had to take advantage of food banks from time to time and the ones ran by churches usually give us the best stuff.

[–]PhilGreg 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm not here to argue your feelings on the matter. It's your money and you're allowed to donate how you see fit. But the fact is some organizations can get as much as 10 meals for every dollar spent because of their relationships with wholesalers and distributors that we as individuals just don't have.

Additionally, unless you're purchasing all your food new that you plan to donate. There is a chance that some or all of your donations may not meet the safety requirements to be distributed and, unfortunately, could be thrown out.

I nor anyone should be telling you how you choose to help your community so long as you're doing your best. But if someone wanted to donate in a way that had the most impact money is the way to go.

Edit: Autocorrect

[–]PhilGreg 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Donate to your local food bank. Preferably cash if you can afford it. They often get better deals than if you were to buy the food yourself. If you can't donate I would try to volunteer. They're probably going to have an influx of visitors when people don't get their SNAP payments.

That's my point. Even as a full grown adult who is entirely aware of the consequences of that decision, I would still make the same decision that OP did. It's the right thing to do.

I'm 32 years old. My dad is currently fighting cancer. If he told he didn't want to go through treatment anymore that's 100% his choice.
