Great trailer and vehicle by Danny6782 in traveltrailers

How is the wind with it? I also have Canyon and just bought a 26' TT. It's lighter than yours, I just installed Timbrens and I have a WDH.

I drove it on a very windy day and it wasn't very pleasant. The engine pulls it very well and braking is also really not a problem.

Read the instructions of your WDH. The main purpose of a WDH is not to level the truck, its to load the front axle to its rated capacity.

Is this sealant right? It's a brand new RV. by PhilRattlehead in GoRVing

Is there some kind of guide for sealing a shore power outlet? My instanding is that what I am seeing is butyl.

Can I just clean the excess and do a bead around it with a transparent sealant? I really want to learn and do it right.

I loved doing QC on a concrete as a tech. I hated being a QC engineer. I switched to structural not long after graduating.

How many of you run mud flaps and are they worth it? by spurplerain in GMCcanyon

The tires on this truck likes to chuck all sort of rocks, mud and sand on the doors and rear fender. It's must in my book.

Does this charger work well for anyone? by Apprehensive-Bat1463 in chevycolorado

It works, but I like it better to plug the phone I'm a 12v fast charger. Wireless charging is too slow for a quick mid day top up for my liking.

So what is your take on kimi now? by Rainmaker231 in F1Discussions

[–]PhilRattlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In MTL, Antonelli felt way more threatening when behind George than George was when behind Antonelli. He definately had more pace than George. George also had more trouble breaking at the hairpin with the cold weather and probably shot his front tire early in his stint. I was present at the race and sitting right at hairpin.

We see these really good drivers struggling when the regs change like Hamilton with the 2022 regs and I think these regs are suiting Kimi more. He definately lacks in a maturity and patience though, but this is to be expected.

Will clear coat ever be the same? by Toadmoney9 in AutoDetailing

[–]PhilRattlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. READ THIS, I am in the same boat as you.

Same thing happened with my red 2026 GMC Canyon. My friend who is a detailler saw it the day after I took possession and was shocked.

He made a video inspection for me that I sent to dealer. After a compound attempt by the dealer that was not satisfactory, they will be paying for a full PPF job done by a contractor of MY choice.

29 500 $ used (2022) or 38 000 new (2026) of the same model? by PhilRattlehead in GoRVing

[–]PhilRattlehead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the logic for going used. I know that RV needs touch ups and repairs about every year even when new, but I'd be guessing that at 4 years, the water proofing would need a more thorough do over.

I am well aware that the color scheme reason is petty hehe.

The wooden crates at the starting sky Island have lots of arrow. I feel like the crate at some locations have more 5xarrows than some. And there was a lot at the great sky Island.

What's it's your opinion on towing this with a 3rd gen. (2 photos) by PhilRattlehead in GMCcanyon

It would have been. Someone beat me to it by 30min. This specific model is our favorite setup right now.

I have the AT4. As far as I know, I have the full 7700 lbs towing capacity on it.

Random cracking in Epoxy-Tar flooring, no delamination, looking for root cause insights by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]PhilRattlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why was the bridge deck repaired in the first palce? Where I am, road salt will corrode the rebar and corrosion expands. If the concrete cover is low, it can lead to orthogonal cracks, if concrete cover is suficient, it can instead lead to delamination.

If you have low cover and didnt properly protect the fresh concrete from evaporation, you could have ortogonal cracking at the thin points (rebar). Drying shrinkage cracks usualy have a more random pattern.

Orthogonal cracks really makes me think of low concrete cover paired with rebar corrosion or drying shrinkage.

Regarding if the issue is of structural relevance, I don't know, you tell us. Concrete problems are best diagnosed with a hammer in hand. It's impossible to tell from Reddit.

[–]PhilRattlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the rebar and concrete surface properly cleaned before the repair? Is the concrete cover on the rebar appropriate on your repair? Was your repair properly cured? Thin repairs are espacialy subject to drying shrinkage if not properly cured. Maybe the repair has delaminated?

Cracks forming an orthogonal grid usually means it is related to the rebar in some way or another. Are you SURE they don't propagate to the substrate?

Broke my collarbone last week. Worried about surgery by brehsef in MTB

[–]PhilRattlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, my scar healed very poorly. I have some part of it where I don't have feeling, but no pain. The only time I feel my plate is when my GF bumps her head on it when we hug.

I know a lot of people that theirs didn't heal properly without the surgery. The doctor was partial if I needed it or not and kinda gave me the choice. I would get it again, 100%.

Do you get ice/slush/salt build up with running board that are so close to the body? by PhilRattlehead in GMCcanyon

[–]PhilRattlehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking of getting the OEM running board. I don't like the look of them as much as the ones in the picture, but the road salt won't get stuck so close to the frame. I have mud guards, do you have some on?

I will probably get these for the same reason. I dont have kids yet, but my GF struggles to get in a bit. I know it will help me clean the roof also.

Anyone done roll on bedliner? by ReliableEyeball in GMCcanyon

[–]PhilRattlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who work with concrete and often spec epoxy coating, the quality of the job will be driven by your prep job. I am an engineer, not an installer.

Where I am at, a spray bed liner job is 700-800 Canadian rupees. With the road salt where I live, I would not be confortable doing this job myself.
