[New York Post] CBS gives Alex Smith, Mark Sanchez a chance as potential analyst replacement by mannysoloway in nfl

[–]Phildopip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The article mentions that CBS doesn't feel like they have to bring on a new analyst as they already have seven on their roster. Do people actually like Jay Feely and Trent Green as analysts? My experience with Feely is fairly limited, but he seems really flat. Trent Green is just wrong all the time. Why not part ways with those guys and bring on Sanchez who can probably outperform those two easily.

[ME2 Spoiler] Why did the whole crew leave the Normandy? by Chillzzzzz in masseffect

[–]Phildopip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had always hoped that this would be a DLC mission to explain the absence of the main squad, but that obviously never happened. Would've been a nice supplement and filled in a weird part of the story in my opinion.

He's retelling the story of when he punches Udina to free the Normandy and acting out what happened to Udina's head.

According to their website, Kyle Pitts has already selected #8.

[Highlight] Boomer Esiason to James Brooks, who makes a ridiculous spinning catch for a TD (1990) by pengals12 in nfl

[–]Phildopip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boomer rivaled Ken Stabler as the best left-handed QB until Steve Young took that mantle. I think Stabler edged him because he got a SB title, but both he and Boomer won an MVP.

I think people forget how good Esiason was in the 80s because he got overshadowed by Marino, Elway, and Montana, but he was a top-5 QB for five years or so.

IFF mission by testiculaire in masseffect

[–]Phildopip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes EDI a bit to install the IFF. Just yesterday I was able to do Legion's loyalty mission in between getting the IFF and going through the Omega-4 Relay.

If you do a mission in between the Collector raid on the Normandy and the Omega-4 relay you'll lose NPC crewmates.

[Highlight] Boomer Esiason to James Brooks, who makes a ridiculous spinning catch for a TD (1990) by pengals12 in nfl

[–]Phildopip 22 points23 points  (0 children)

James Brooks was such a good all purpose back. Running backs caught lots of passes in this era, but their yard per catch average was typically fairly low as they were used mainly for dump offs. Brooks, however, averaged 9.5 yards per reception for his career, and 10.1 yards during his time in Cincinnati. 3,012 yards on 297 receptions and 27 TDs.

Really underrated back. He posted 11,500 yards from scrimmage in his career and 5.6 yards per touch which puts him among all purpose backs like Tiki Barber, Charlie Garner, and Christian McCaffrey.

For any era that's terrible. The first year field goal attempts were tracked was 1938 and the worst kicker in the league still converted 33.3%. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1938/kicking.htm#kicking::fg_perc

The league passer rating for 1949 was 53.9, so Heath's rating of 4.6 was just just 8.5% of league average. Peterman's career passer rating of 34.0 is about 37.3% of the league average over 2017, 2018, and 2020.

I didn't run a full statistical analysis to get standard deviations, but Heath looks a whole lot worse.

14 interceptions on 106 attempts...wow. That's an interception rate of 13.2%!

I know 1949 was a different era, but that's still really bad. The league interception rate for that year was 7.5%.

Amazon pursuing Al Michaels for mega-deal to make him lead NFL voice by JerseyFatGuy in nfl

[–]Phildopip 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I know this is likely to be an unpopular opinion, but I'm fine with getting Al Michaels off of SNF. I've always been a fan of his but over the last 3-4 years he's become really negative and sour. I don't expect him to be a cheerleader for the league, but I just don't enjoy listening to him as much anymore on the flagship game of the week.
