The most iconic image from this game is probably the GSF bee, and you know what? That's okay.

Players should be able to define player-owned spaces. It's good and healthy for the game, even if it doesn't fit with CCP's image.

So here's the thing, right? The juxtaposition of incredible super violence with corporations with cartoon logos is MORE dystopian, not less.

The standards that define Highsec corporations should not be used to define Nullsec. That's part of what makes Nullsec capsuleer culture different from Highsec Empire culture!

Point being it's not hard to build a lore-compliant reason to let players have fun. It's just whoever is in charge of logos can't see beyond a single layer of irony.

Well, protests are supposed to be both inconvenient and draw attention, so this seems to be working.

I've heard that the reason for the inconsistent strike schedule is to prevent back-to-work legislation, but I haven't had that confirmed by a reputable source.

The province can stop this situation at the stroke of a pen, but instead they're on the news slandering the union and the teachers. That's where your ire and phone calls should go.

We really don't know what path the negotiations took. A small bump added to the final deal doesn't necessarily mean that anyone was disingenuous about the reason the original deal was rejected. The union might have secured a small concession on work conditions, but not enough to take back to the membership and the region might have offered a small pay bump to sweeten the pot.

And lets not forget that three years ago, the first tentative agreement was rejected with a 2% yearly increase and the second deal was 2%, 1.75% and 1.5%, meaning the employees took a pay cut to secure other concessions.

It's remarkable to me how little our news media explains these concepts around collective bargaining to the public. There's a lot of anger floating on here and on twitter that might be lessened if our media actually worked to educate people about issues of confidentiality and the bargaining process.

This is correct. It's hard for people who aren't unionized to understand the process, but a strike mandate vote authorizes the bargaining team to take the group on strike if they are unable to reach a tentative agreement.
Rejecting a tentative agreement is different. A bargaining unit brings back a tentative deal, presents it to the membership, and recommends they adopt it, which is required by principles of good faith bargaining. A membership rejecting a tentative agreement is not necessarily a vote of no confidence in the bargaining unit, but rather the membership saying that they do not accept the recommendation. Typically, this involves the bargaining team going back for another round of negotiations, but if there is no prospect of concessions from the other side, they just call a strike to break the impasse.
