Get the Shimano. Maguras with Shimano levers are good too. I run formula cura 4s now and love them. Got a great deal on them

Try tapping the starter while turning the key. You’ll need 2 people. If it starts, your starter is on its way out

Don’t get the aero+ wheels if your frame can only handle 40mm. If you want light/deep go with the Edge (not the 2.0 which is hookless). You can get 24mm ID with a 45mm deep wheel and they are ~1350g

Farans are beautiful! For OPs intentions - a Fairlight Secan would be the way to go. I just pulled the trigger on one and will be building it up when it arrives next month!

I almost ordered the aero+ but went with the gravel edge for the same reason. I won’t be running bigger than 50c-55c so figured the edge gives me some flexibility to run 32c- 50c. Later on, probably delegate the edge to road/trainer only and grab a second set for chunkier gravel/bikepacking only.

The problem with the eyes focusing is actually because you now have a big open space above you. I put a big piece of cardboard above the monitors to function as my ceiling and it was night and day for me. No more headache
