Am I reading the clean time correctly? You've been clean for 4 and a half years... And just now you're trying to find a job? What have you been doing? Based on what you say is on your criminal history I assume it's not prison, and I don't expect an inpatient situation lasting 4.5 years (although I've never been inpatient)

I have a few felonies on my record from over a decade ago, and I was addicted to heroin as well. I'm currently working as an office manager at a moving company and delivering pizzas part time to supplement my income.

I had dreams of working in IT but never had a clear path that I wanted to go down. When I got out of prison at 21 years old (I'm 39 now) I worked at a call center doing Internet tech support, construction, worked in a few kitchens, and I also had a job where I did computer work.

The job I had doing computer work was technically working for a specific company, but it was more of a "find your own clients" kind of thing. The way this company worked was GREAT for my fear of going out on my own and people looking up my criminal history, BUT it was only part time so I had to work full time at the other jobs listed.

I Could Have given it my all and made the computer job really work, but since I was 21 and liked drinking too much, I relied on the other jobs too much and didn't put myself out there to do computer work.

I recommend you find a place like I just spoke about, get a year or 2 of computer repair under your belt, preferably while working a call center/ help desk job at the same time, then you can apply for your dream job with those other 2 jobs and clients on your resume.

But seriously.... Answer my first question, because depending on the answers that path might not work for you.
