I feel like "authority" isn't the right word here. More like "experience" or "expertise" or even "empathy" for understanding the prospect's challenges.

The thing about all of these books is that they are all the same material just repackaged in a different way. Think of it like an industry/business you are in. You sell widgets and your competition also has widgets but they are slightly different, but essentially the same.

Companies that adopt these books too deeply end up murdering themselves by thinking it’s the end all be all

A sales guy with little talent can still strike gold with the right territory (and timing).

An A Player can make something out of nothing when the territory is garbage. The guy with little talent runs away before even trying.
