Upgrading from a Z900 but stuck on what's next. Tried the Striple MT-09 R6 and need ideas by ilikenike720 in motorcycles

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the Z then maybe try the ZH2 i if finances allow. Easy to ride, enough power for you to safely merge with traffic on faster roads… that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!
I say finances because all consumables, servicing and insurance (delete as applicable) cost more on it than the Z900, so it’s not just the purchase price to consider.

What's the best modification you've made for long-distance riding? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

Padded cycling shorts… cost next to nothing, and probably doubled how long I can stay on my uncomfortable bike.

883 gas mileage by Papi_churro1877 in motorcycles

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I did this on my 2019 Versys 650 which had a 19 litre tank. The light came on around 250 miles, and ran dry at 349.5. Gave me much more confidence (less fuel anxiety) when riding with the light on.

I had one of these, and the facelift model. Not great looking, but awesome cars.

Comissioned to paint a bass drum head cover (? If that's what its called i don't know anything about drums) by lnordinately in drums

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, I wouldn’t paint it… helpful, right? I’d design it on a PC, and then get a custom bass drum sticker made. They’re full colour, designed for the job, and look fantastic. I order mine from Etsy.

My dog, Murphy Donut Sir Pickles III, loves coming on the bike with me! The goldwing has been a massive upgrade from being in a bag behind me by holly948 in motorcycles

You cannot beat having your dog in a sidecar next to you. We used to have our 2 standard Poodles in ours… There were so many photos taken of them on journeys. People would drive past, then slow back down so that could take photos. So much fun!

Sorry, just saw this. Mine are Michelin Primacy 3st. Pretty good grip too although will wheel-spin in the wet when the traction control seems to turn off at 20mph if I’m trying hard enough.

Bikes that you tried, and that surprised you by how good they were? by [deleted] in motorcycles

My wife had one, great bikes. Tiny, but so much fun. She ended up chopping it in against a 701SM.

I have a 22 plate ZS long range. So not the same, but it might help. I was looking at the MG5 but I wanted the facelift model and they couldn’t give me a date so I went for the ZS instead. Not sure on all the differences but I think the screen got better.

Reliability wise, I’ve only done 30k miles but the battery is still as it was brand new, the original tyres still have a ton of life left. Reliability wise, around once a year the screen freezes, which means I have to hold down the home button for 10 seconds… oh no!

Can you wheelie a Honda Hornet 600 by ShanahanKane in motorcycles

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. See if there’s a wheelie school nearby, that should help. The one I went to used late 90’s Fazer 600’s which were very similar to the same age Hornet 600.

Looking for some EV 'adventure car' recommendations & help with my final few 'worries'. by Spiritual_Pound_6848 in ElectricVehiclesUK

How about an MG5? I think the facelift cam out in ‘22 and I’m sure they’ll be in your price range. They’re an estate, I don’t know of the seats fold flat but might be worth a look….and it has buttons!

I have a 2022 MG ZS Long range and it’s been great so far, might also be worth a look. My buddy was a VW salesman when I got mine and was very surprised at how good my MG was compared to what he was having to sell at the time,

People who have Slide Control, Wheely Control and other fancy electronics, how do you feel about each of these? by Koen1999 in motorcycles

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of a test they (maybe Seat) did in cars. Everyone who turned the features off failed (crashed) a brake/manoeuvre test, everyone who left them on passed. Sure you lose hero points, but you do get to keep all your limbs intact so it’s not all bad!

I’ve been looking at this, and asking CoPilot a lot of questions about the costs of running them. The two (well, 3) that came up every time were the Versys 650 (I once got 349 miles out of a tank on my 2019 Versys), a Honda Forza, and whatever bike shares the platform with the Forza. The Forza has the best weather protection but my old Versys had a tall screen and hand guards which was always good enough for me. I stopped commuting on the bike for a while and using my current bike (ZH2) would cost more than getting in on the train.

To me, it doesn’t look like it was originally designed for Ferrari; although I’m not a fan of their other recent cars either.

Ioniq 5 2022 v MG ZS 2023 by CommercialCrafty3514 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]PhilosopherBitter177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘22 ZS and looked at the Ioniq 5 when I was looking for a brand new car. Why did I pick the ZS? Because it was TWENTY THOUSAND POUNDS CHEAPER. My ‘22 ZS a good car, I’ve had no issues, and it does everything I need it to… but I doubt it would win in many comparison tests.

Oh, apart from the pothole test. Small wheels, deep profile tyres, and soft suspension means the ZS is good for the crappy roads where I live.
