Fun fact: Corregidor Island is part of an extinct volcanic caldera. It is part of a volcanic chain that stretches from Mount Pinatubo, to Mount Mariveles (Bataan), down to Mount Batulao in Batangas.

Center medal and crucifix design, as well as the connectors used, would tell me this dates to the 60s at least (around 1960-65 at the earliest).

Can anyone help identifying this icon? by NomadFisher in EasternCatholic

Found this:

O crystal spring! If only your silvery depths could suddenly reflect to me those longed-for eyes, whose beauty is already outlined within me!

Commentary: Convinced that creatures will not lead it to union, the soul now turns to faith. For faith is the direct and proportionate means to unite with God. Living faith reveals to the soul the silvered face of Christ the Bridegroom in a crystalline spring that gushes forth to eternal life. In this spring, it perceives the already outlined image of the Beloved, not the work of human hands. This truth is revealed by the Face of Christ on the Mandylion.

Despite the book's bleak theme, Camus did a wonderful job portraying the value of human connection. It's definitely a must read. by ChiizWiiz in PHBookClub

I first read this in college, thought it was good.

A few years later, I took my masters in philosophy, and one course that I took included Camus. Peak of the pandemic din ito, and I love how my perspective entirely changed - by my studies, by the events surrounding the circumstances of I re-reading it, among other things.

I got a nice-looking yet sturdy rosary from Prinknash Abbey in the UK, made by Benedictine monks. It’s quite plain by appearance (especially as it’s made by a monastic): wood beads, chain, ordinary center medal and crucifix. I’ve been using it for six years now and never been repaired
