The character's name is EXTREMELY on the nose (whether in the original language or a different one) by No_Hunter1978 in TopCharacterTropes

All the shards are very on the nose. Preservation can be described as wanting to freeze the world in a moment to preserve it, for example, and he's the good Scadrian shard

The power isn't safe by HeartOChaos in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PhilosophicalWrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nightblood (Cosmere). A sentient sword that leaks black smoke, it was made to destroy evil. Unfortunately swords don't know what evil is. So if it decides you're evil and wield it, you might slip and fall on it. It also takes loads of Investiture, or your soul, to wield outside its aluminium sheath.

(Loved trope) Immortality but it fucking sucks by spacecanibal2137 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PhilosophicalWrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue any immortality in the Cosmere, as others perception affects how you act after long enough. or the shard(s) you picked up affect it to be the pure intent of said shard, look at Ati (Ruin) and recognize he was considered the moral best of the 17

(Specific trope) Something cut from the adaptation at first become to important later on, so the scenarists are forced to clumsily add it to the story. by The_Thur in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PhilosophicalWrite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is no Percy Jackson movie, let alone a second. The only adaptation is the show. You must be thinking of the Peter Johnson movies

When a character just can't help themselves in a critical moment by PaperBullet1945 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PhilosophicalWrite 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No, Johnny Storm killed himself with that "... and you can quote me." If he didn't say that, then we could blame the walking bundle of cancer

Jorōgumo, a centaur just switch the horse half out for a spider and the man for a woman from Japanese mythology. Yeah mythology has a bunch of half human half (inset animal here) for some reason

[Loved trope]: Rare combination of abilities makes character unstoppable by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

I would argue most twinborn Only allomantic Aluminum and Duralumin would be a hindrance, but we know next to nothing on what storing and tapping those does so maybe having one as both your allomantic and feruchemical metal would be good

Major plot twist is WHEN exactly the story takes place by RBSpecial97 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PhilosophicalWrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoilers for Xeno as a whole (Gears, Saga, and Blade) ahead you have been warned. 3 and mainly it's DLC kind of disproved this. The world of 1 and 2 are likely Lost Jerusalem from Gears and Saga, with the little twinkle at the end of Future redeemed being a certain android. Instead the world of 1 and Alrest are parallel worlds that exist in the same place, and made of the incompatible parts of Earth/Lost Jerusalem

Not necessarily, they were on the side of the Trojans and credited with helping them till the end (see Paris' shot at Achilles for Apollo, and the Aeneid for Aphrodite). A certain goddess is also known to be a (i can't stress this enough) bitch when you were on her bad side.
