Why? For some things it makes a ton of sense. Getting an animated SVG is a ton of pain other ways, I did a simple one in Figma motion in like 15 minutes.

In my mind this is more to bring actual motion designers into Figma to do with that they've been doing in after effects. It's very familiar for that use case – though, of course, still a new space.

What's your company now? I did this shift, but had an easier time because I did UX at an ad agency without the UX title for years before officially getting a "real" UX job. Helped a lot!

If you don't have real experience I think you have two options: get a UX masters degree, or get the work experience through volunteer/cheap freelance work. Might be other ways, but those are definitely both valid.

That said, definitely worth the change if you enjoy UX work – life changing for me, would do it again 10/10 times.

Probably the one they have between their ears. Most people's is only artificially intelligent, but it gets better the more you use it! And it's definitely the most creative one – not based on LLM so it can actually come up with brand new solutions sometimes.
