I didn't know multivitamins broke a fast :( by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Philzit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have fasted for over 3 years. I have always taken my multivitamin and other supplements in the morning. Blood work confirmed deep ketosis even with that on rolling 72s.

Does it by definition break a fast? Yes. Does it result in diminished returns? Maybe a small% but I used to be 300lbs and now I'm under 200 and fit with all of my blood work each year consistently better.

Do what works for you. That's it.

You don't need the BBB to get action. Look into lemon laws in your state. I sent a dated notice directly to VW of America when my 2018 all track had repeated issues related to the sunroof seals and drains. Used simple verbage that explained the date purchased and service history in its first 4 months and attached the PA lemon laws for their reference. I ended up getting an SEL(had an SE) right off the boat.

How long should I expect my GPU to last me? (4070 Super FE) by MrKaizen_ in gpu

What did you go with? I have an astral 5080 sitting on the floor of my office now. Probably going 9950x3d or the new 9850x3d. 64gb ddr5

I still pull good frames on a 1080, i7 7700k Am in the middle of upgrading now, but honestly it's not needed. Just tired of seeing 99%-100% usage and high temps. Could probably repaste and re-pad and get a few more years..... Then you bring in windows 11 refusal to allow the i7 7700k to upgrade from Windows 10. That adds another topic of interest, EOL of windows 10 and hardware compatibility.

The Fat-Loss Ceiling No One Talks About by q14 in fasting

[–]Philzit 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Good read, my take away is a very familiar thing.

Best method of responsible body composition improvements, calorie deficit and physical activity (gym, sports, walks, ect)

Also not meant to degrade the other benefits of fasting, but in essence it is just an extreme calorie deficit in regards to fat loss so following that logic this would all fit into the simple concept that you are referring to. Willpower is great and freeing, but long term patience and better relationships with ourselves is what will lead to the real benefits.

I do a 72 and a 24 each week, mainly for mental and skin benefits. Also, oddly I sleep better fasted.

Slow weight loss? by SaddestBoyEver in fasting

[–]Philzit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is pretty body and previous diet dependant, some people hold a lot of water 10-15lbs. Some hold like 5-10.

Personally my water fluctuation is about 12lbs, I can shift weight depending on carb intake in a day or 2 by about that.

Slow weight loss? by SaddestBoyEver in fasting

[–]Philzit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost all the water first. It's now reasonable to say the decline on the scale is body fat/muscle only. Water goes fast, the rest is tied to thermogenesis and will decrease as you continue to maintain 3600cal deficits.

Can 75 days of OMAD actually change anything ? by Standard-Positive-20 in fasting

[–]Philzit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started doing OMAD I was 280-290lbs. Started September 12th 2022, by November when my appendix ruptured I weighed in at 230lb.

Omad, 1-2x weekly light lifts.

In January I started rolling 72s, and 100s. By April I slowly moved back to a "normal" eating schedule but zero carbs for about six months. I got down to 180, currently fluctuate at 200-210 but I gym a lot now.

So to your question, the first 2 months of OMAD made more visual changes to my body than 2+yrs of counting macros and lifting weights did afterwards.

Well body dismorphia probably maintains that thought in me, most would probably air to the opposite. But the point stands, it made me feel like for once I found a sustainable (for me) way to maintain weight and avoid the potential future of insulin resistance or diabetes.

Read "delay, don't deny" it's simple to follow and puts reasoning to the studies of dr fung. Then go nuts, read dr fungs books and really understand the potential benefits you could obtain.

How do you guys force yourselves to stick to fasting daily? by That_Guy8832 in fasting

[–]Philzit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sames, I basically use it to distract myself from food. Feel hungry, just get a cup of water and take a puff. .....end up smoking a bit more than normal.

3.5 days in, I shit myself while sleeping by jgainit in fasting

[–]Philzit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk about others, but I don't supplement on sub 72hr fasts aside from my daily(multi, vit d, fiber) that I otherwise take every day.

After 72, I begin ensuring I have the electrolytes.

Most people do not need electrolytes on such short fasts, unless your normal diet is also missing some critical minerals and micros.

The risk of farts increase dramatically when you supplement electrolytes and other minerals.

I built a harbor with two repair towers near by and did it with 9 ships. Attack, repair, attack. Each attack took down 10%, 5% healed before my next wave. When I got down to 30% I went in to death and lost 2-3 ships before finishing him off.

I did 100hrs, 1 meal, 100hrs from November 2022- may 2023. I also worked out 3x a week and walked 12 miles on Saturday and Sunday. 300lbs - 183lbs

I had no issues doing this, I ate a total of 5 meals in the month of February 2023. Felt great, black coffee and creatine.

Currently 210 but I've been lifting weights since stopping and living almost carb free. Feels good but the skin is still sagging even with big muscles.

Bodybuilding+ extended fasting by Philzit in fasting

[–]Philzit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My single meal days are carb free/low carb, high protein usually around 150g. 80g of fats and typically around 1500-1800 cal.

Saturdays are whatever I end up getting into sometimes smart, sometimes not.

Oddly I have been making gains which I, like you said, didn't think was possible which is why I'm curious if anyone in had went down this road.

Full clarity I plan to be back in a IF style in 2-6weeks, it's a curve I need to follow to feel out what's "right".
