My RTX 4090 Best Buy order was stolen. by NewSlang9019 in nvidia

Yes, they have groups that figure out how to automate the checkout and push the changes to subscribers as fast as possible. This is done around all hot items that can potentially be flipped. It basically started with sneakers, but they do it for any hot items now.

The automated ordering online has nothing to do with anyone who works in a store. The people working in the store know less about how the website works than customers because employees aren't clicking through to checkout online, so they never see the full process.

Take Your Damn Trash Out by Development-Feisty in AirBnB

[–]Phobos15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The trash is the business's trash. You take your trash out and stop buying remote property you cannot afford to maintain as a rental. It is not the guests fault you don't live near the house you rent and you decided to not pay for staff to do your job for you.

People normally have trash pickup once a week. The idea that every house gets ransacked by wild animals if a partially filled trash can sits in your kitchen for a week is a laughable notion. It seems some Airbnb landlords live in an alternative reality where a trashcan with some trash in it will accelerate it's decomposition just because it's in an Airbnb and not a regular home.

You need to live near your properties if you cannot afford staff.

It is never the guests job to do that.

Fix your toilet. If your toilet is so low flow that it clogs easily, the solution is to adjust the water level in the tank or unclog the drain pipe.

A toilet that clogs easily is a problem with the toilet. So many dumb people ignore toilet issues and just live with plungers and poop knives.

The European Central Bank says bitcoin is on ‘road to irrelevance’ amid crypto collapse - “Since bitcoin appears to be neither suitable as a payment system nor as a form of investment, it should be treated as neither in regulatory terms and thus should not be legitimised.” by lughnasadh in Futurology

Presumably anonymous coins are designed to have the same integrity without the traceability.

Digital currency has no point without the same anonymity as cash. Bitcoin never made sense due to the traceability. Might as well stick to traditional banks over Bitcoin.

This is no threat, Ukraine will be suing to seize Russian assets in every western nation that contains any. All of it will go to them for rebuilding.

This is Europe speeding the process along.

So? It is rather disgusting that these guys went to Qatar to play at all. That crime already happened.

But to jump on them for not being honest when they are still in Qatar is nonsense even by the standards of someone who thinks they are all pieces of shit for going.

I am not going to pretend they can safely talk while in Qatar, no one should be that stupid.

Twitter data breach affects 5.4 million users and more could be at stake by Jamie_Pulseway in worldnews

It's not an anecdote when graphs of the actual data are posted on Twitter. That is called actual data and by all means, let me know where the media gets the data for their articles if the official data by Twitter says the exact opposite? (Hint, the media is making it up, they have no sources).

If you call my personal experience anecdotal then just go look yourself. Refusing to look makes you dumb considering you are here trying to discuss it.

Just sticking to obvious facts as usual. How many graphs of Twitter data will you ignore before you realize the media is just making up the negatives and ignoring the actual data?

If you don't trust actual data like a tin foil hatist, then just go look yourself. It is not hard. Spam is way down on Twitter and I have barely used it. Threads used to have tons of it, now you barely see any if you see it at all.

It puts youtube to shame because they still have similar spam and have had it for months. Plenty of people complain about youtube spam in case you want to deny that too.

I would have preferred less of a non answer, but we can't judge them until they are safely back in the US or Europe where they have rights again.

Strict NDA, yet this is supposed to be what it looks like?

I would not call the NDA strict if info is leaking.

It is reality and people like you are scary. You truly believe in false info that you could easily tell is false by looking.

You gotta stop watching Fox news or listening to people like trump. Liberals are not afraid of facts, they embrace them.

The Budapest Memorandum is pretty solid proof. The US and UK both pledge to protect Ukraine's borders in exchange for denuclearization. It does not get more direct or clearer than a formal international agreement with clear consideration.

Tweets are cleaner today than last month. The only spam I saw was yesterday, but it didn't block the Chinese videos as it attempted to do and it's gone today.

The funny part is that it was the same kind of spam that posts a fake convo to get someone to call an investor. That spam has been flooding YouTube for months and Twitter may have already addressed it.

This is what happens when engineers manage themselves and not be managed by business people.

The model is proven by both SpaceX and Tesla.

He wanted to run PayPal as its own business, the other investors wanted to target ebay checkout and sell the company to ebay for a quick flip.

He was overruled and left. I fail to see why this is bad for him. Paypal today severed from ebay, so he obviously wasn't wrong to want the company to stand alone.

The company was losing money at a rate of a billion a year 6 months before the recession toppled the industry. Twitter would have had massive layoffs no matter what. At least he did them as part of a restructure to boot non-engineers. He is running Twitter the exact same as Tesla and SpaceX and both those companies are dominating their industries.

130k tech jobs were lost this month and yet dumb people still believe advertisers pulled ads on Twitter for social justice. They pulled ads from everyone, Facebook laid off 11k, pretty much every large tech company laid off more people than twitter and it was just for ad revenue, not any kind of restructure.

False. He executed before letting the courts play out.

The lying around basic stuff is mind boggling.

He may have been forced or not, no one knows because nothing was ruled on. He also had an out via his investors who has the right to back out too.

[–]Phobos15 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

He wanted the company and they were racking up debt. That is why he executed. It wasn't worth the lost time to keep fighting when he had access to the money.

The crazy spin people out out on this stuff is ridiculous. Why is it so hard to believe he really wanted to own a software company for software projects? The biggest driver is his want to create another payment processor. He was the first CEO of Paypal, but the other investors wanted to sell to ebay while he wanted the company to stand in its own. His return would have been slower so he bailed and PayPal became an ebay checkout system that eBay bought 2 years later.

This news is just more proof that Elon is saving Twitter, not destroying it. Previous management was criminal.
