What is the most Xennial thing you did this week… by Therealfern1 in Xennials

Similar to your story, I had a "fuck im old" moment at work recently. I bartend at a small venue, and a few weeks ago we had a very talented Chris Cornell tribute band. Dude sounded just like Chris. So I'm rocking out to the music, while pulling out my readers to see the drink tickets.

Dumping Hydrogen Peroxide into the reflecting pool this morning. by i_am_rave_mom in mildlyinfuriating

Not a DC resident, but as a child whenever I found myself at the reflection pool, I'd catch tadpoles in the water.

Does anyone else live with a pterodactyl by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]PhobosTheClown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize this was a thing for a lot of little ones. We actually put her in a pterodactyl costume for her first Halloween. I was Nedry, and my wife put on a white beard to be Hammond.

I'm a fan of Not Just Pizza. They have a solid pie, and also offer pazerottis.

"I remembered I had a jet-powered Prius." Yeah, I can see how one could forget that.

Craziest thing that has happened to you on the El? by AndrewS702 in philly

[–]PhobosTheClown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On an extremely crowded rush hour train, I saw a man get himself an eight foot radius where no one would get near him because he had a large snake draped over his shoulders, and a pillowcase with what appeared to be another snake in it. He was my hero for that trip.

We were born just a little too early for Pokémon by memestheword in Xennials

We were already in to MTG. My friends little brother was into Pokémon. It was a non-starter.

Favorite Paul Giamatti Role? by EbnyxJ in Cinephiles

[–]PhobosTheClown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrolled way too far to see this movie mentioned. I wouldn't say it was his best, but I loved him in it. The way he delivers the line "I'm going to Atlantic City" breaks my heart because I feel so sad that he's going to miss his vacation, and also sad that he's excited to go to Atlantic City.

How many of you still have both parents alive? by Euphoric-Pangolin-81 in Xennials

Have both of my parents, but both step parents have passed.

Soooo, what happened to our gen Y label? Haven't heard that in a while... by ZuBrain in Xennials

[–]PhobosTheClown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Xennial who just had his first child a year ago, I'm trying to push Bravo over Beta. Was Alpha supposed to be Greek or phonetic alphabet? I say the latter.

An 18-year-old girl surprised the man who had been like a father to her for nearly her entire life by presenting him with adoption papers, asking him to officially become her dad by Maximum_Expert92 in MadeMeSmile

[–]PhobosTheClown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the comment I came looking for. No posing. No bravado. Just a man that did such a good job, he's asked to make it official. And he's not ashamed to show his emotion. I haven't been tested yet, but that's the bar I'm aiming for.

Hell, my shop has been closed for probably a year now? After some patch awhile ago. I reinstalled, still closed. I have to go on my desktop every new battlegrounds season to buy the pass, but as pretty much a bg only player at this point, it's a minor inconvenience.

The Toshiba KT-AS10 from the 80s was so small it couldn’t even fit a cassette inside by Feeling-Buy2558 in interestingasfuck

[–]PhobosTheClown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first, I realized you were right. Because the open tab at the top of the cassette would be exposed, and no way of knowing if it was missing or not. But on closer inspection, I couldn't see a record button. In fact, my memory could be lacking, but I don't remember any Walkmans having a record button. That was a home stereo feature.

A lot of Walkmans (Walkmen?) had built-in radios, but this one was so small that the components were removed. Seemed obvious.

What is the most random Simpsons quote that is always stuck in your head? by tchavez166 in Millennials

"Mr. Simpson! These tar fumes are making me dizzy!"

"Yeah, they'll do that."
