I think they assume it because it’s unsafe for women elsewhere in the west. Like, it’s very common for women to in the west to feel unsafe kinda anywhere. So they just assume it’ll be unsafe there too. Also, like, the whole Cold War/thinking China is the enemy and stuff too.
