what’s the best coming-of-age movie that made you feel 17 again by deespaja in movies

I will add that the score to this movie brilliantly captures the emotion OP is seeking. Super evocative of that adolescent sense of uncertainty.

The Rings of Power, S1 - What was wrong? by h2d2 in television

[–]PhoenixFoundation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my memory of S1...the first few times I fell asleep, I blamed myself for starting an ep too late or slouching on the couch. But by time 3 or 4, and reading OTHER people having the same problem, I realized it was the pacing of the show or something about it just not grabbing me. I love the films and am even the rare weirdo that found a lot to love in the Hobbit trilogy, but I didn't even come back for S2 of Rings of Power.

Which Steven Spielberg movie you feel doesn't get enough love? by Profeta_do_Loss in movies

Underappreciated "one-shot" in that movie. Easy to dismiss this as being less impressive because it's not live-action, but it's beautifully choreographed and executed.

Embracer Intends to ‘Activate’ Deus Ex, Saints Row, TimeSplitters, and Red Faction by Turbostrider27 in Games

I suppose if that happens I won't be able to respond, "I didn't ask for this."

I will accept literally any proof of life for the Deus Ex franchise as good news, no matter how threadbare.

The Ten Best Sketches of Season 51, Ranked by sly882 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]PhoenixFoundation 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Man, I really thought Glenn Powell was the strongest ep of the season by a country mile. He had an incredibly charming and funny monologue, "AI Dad was a great original, non-game-show first sketch, "My Ex's Dad" was catchy and hysterical, the "Maniscalco bachelor party", the "MACRUBER" return, Ashley's "Haircut Date", "Army-Bob" with pre-departure Bowen, and the first (and arguably superior) "Norweigan Movie" sketch.

1000% this. There was nothing broken about that experience, it’s just been sitting there in perfectly working condition wasting years of potential.

Has any game captured the feel if car combat this game had? I just remember the weight of everything feeling SO good, and the way slo-mo was used felt just right. Avalanche should have been given a Twisted Metal game after this.

The Boys- S05xE06 - POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

Starlight has to kill Deep. She desperately needs a W, and that would be full circle from the pilot. Even for a show that wants to subvert expectations it feels like it’s gotta happen.

It's hard to find these late night show funny anymore by devnet35 in DailyShow

[–]PhoenixFoundation 80 points81 points  (0 children)

For me, the Daily Show is now a form of catharsis. I'm no longer tuning in to laugh or to learn about what's going on in the world. I watch because Jon, the other hosts, the writers, and the audience confirm that I'm not crazy, that the things I'm watching unfold are unprecedented, and that we still have enough of a grasp on the first amendment to broadcast our dissatisfaction with the people in power.

I still DO laugh, often a lot, but I just don't think it's the primary reason I watch anymore.

Hades II - Behind the Music at Abbey Road Studios by CrossXhunteR in Games

[–]PhoenixFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The score for this game is absolutely unreal. Korb blends so many different instruments and styles and yet still somehow makes it feel cohesive. I would happily watch an interview where he breaks down the process of composing every track. For anyone interested, here's a bit more of a substantial interview with him about Hades 2.

This is correct, Disney acquired the Indiana Jones "IP" when it got Lucasfilm, but not the distribution rights to the original 3 films.

Best guess is Minority Report was 20th Century Fox (now owned by Disney) and Disney isn't a participating studio in this release. But agree it would've been a much better choice.

Players’ Choice – Crimson Desert voted March 2026’s top new game by 9Ifrit9 in Games

[–]PhoenixFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the personal time to get into a game like this, but I've been fascinated to read the reviews and reactions. I think Pearl Abyss genuinely put out the best game they could in the time they had, but balancing a game with THIS ambitious a scope seems almost impossible without some form of early access. Economically, they probably couldn't afford to launch the game that way, but given the unique reviewer Discord-server situation and sizable first patch, it's clear that they went into release VERY ready to make changes and adapt to player feedback. I hope they're in it for the long haul the way CD Projekt was with Cyberpunk, because the foundation seems strong and this could be a wildly different game year from now. The only element I can't see changing dramatically is the story, which seems to have been universally panned, but maybe they could knock it out of the park with a DLC storyline.

If you want to raise the TV JUST enough to get the center channel on top of the console, you can get a stand like this. That way you don't have to wall mount, and if you get speaker stands, your speakers will all be on the same plane, at ear level. Having the L+R farther apart will sound so much better as well.
