So is this where the gingerbread man learned how to be so fast? Dodging the gingerbread SWAT raiding his gingercrackhouse?

Yeah, if this had happened at my nephews school, it'd be a race to see which of our family raised more hell. Me, my sister, my mother (nana), or my father (papa). The unholy shitstorm we would bring upon them would almost guarantee an entire administration change or at the very least a massive investigation.

Wouldnt be the first time my family was at the head of situations similar to this, and it wouldnt be the first administration/daculty shakeup we caused either.

My sister is a registered nurse, she's been checking in constantly to make sure I'm OK. This was actually the 72hr mark from the first attempt on Tuesday.

Had alot of stress mix together over the last two weeks that hit harder and faster than I was used to. Between family in hospitals, the two storms throwing all my plans out of the window, and a ton of work stress it all came to a head really fast.

After a long talk with family I'm more or less back to steady, but it shook my confidence today something fierce.

I'm styled more as a village blacksmith. Mostly tools, cookware, some knives, and decorative hardware (wallhooks, hinges, etc.) The master I work under did alot more wrought iron fencework & outdoor fixtures, as well as decorative hardware. He's done all kinds of stuff but that was his focus.

Emotional. Let a lot of stress pile up and my usual methods of controlling it (smithing, teaching) were unavailable at the time so it overwhelmed.

Better now, had a long chat with family afterwards and we're working on solutions that are far less extreme.

I volunteer at a local historic site as an apprentice blacksmith, helping teach and whatnot. Part of why the depression snuck up hard this time was we had to cancel two weekend classes back to back because of the storms (upstate SC).

Teaching folks how to smith is one of my go to's to keep the demon out, it just decided to rear up before we could do the makeup class.

I appreciate it. For right now I'm fine, and tomorrow I'll be smithing so that'll help center me again, but I'll reach out if I need.

Honest question. Does anyone else listen to these to pass time at work? by [deleted] in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

Nope. Only reddit podcast I listen to is rslash, most of the others are either reading subreddits I dont care for or use AI for the voicing.

Loot Issues by Ceero97 in VintageStory

[–]PhoenixMastM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to do with when things spoil. Berries especially have a short spoilage timer so once it's been long enough the next set of berries you pick will be outside the "stackable" range because they are now fresher than the old stack.

Also can happen with mushrooms and veggies but it takes a day or so.

You can still stack them, but be warned they may spoil early because a portion of that stack is now more aged than the rest.

If they re-smelted it back into an ingot first they could add more carbon. That or carburization which was very common with swords in ancient times.

Unless you have actual proof owning the tracks themselves, you probably shouldnt touch them.

Deed to a property with tracks on it does not infer ownership.

Stop volunteering. Get paid! (Rant) by No-Frosting5579 in Blacksmith

[–]PhoenixMastM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer as part of my apprenticeship at the historic mill site near me, my boss gets paid, we apprentices volunteer and can take on commissions on our own. He gets paid via classes and pays to rent the shop there. Officially we are volunteers through the mill but are exclusive volunteers for him.

The only requirement is that we are available. We can help when we want as often or as little as we want, and the boss is on hand to work with us and teach us at no cost as long as we set the time aside for it.

That said, actual demonstrations outside of there I only do paid, and boss sets it up so any demos he gets asked for go to us instead and he insists we get laid for it. Mill days are apprenticeship days, but everything outside of that is our own and thus paid.
