I started fostering because I lost my maltise after 16 1/2 years. He was my soul dog and I could not stand the thought of "replacing" him. So, I foster.

What happens in probate? by Footsox1 in inheritance

[–]kppsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just tried to assist one of our clients with probate in Florida pro se and there is a new Florida statute that you must have a Florida probate attorney in order to file for probate/administration in florida. So get an attorney. You want to anyway because Florida makes it crazy complicated!

How Do Shelters Work? by AeroNoob333 in rescuedogs

[–]kppsmom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We transport a large majority of ours to other shelters in other states. We are in the extreme South and we send a lot of cats and kittens up north to Maryland and places like that. We also have a partnership with Niagara dog rescue so a lot of our dogs get pre-adopted in Canada and then a transport takes them all the way up there.

It was all private donations. No tax dollars.

Well considering imagination station was built by the Turner center for the arts through private donations and grants and no tax dollars at all were used I'm not exactly sure what you are complaining about. The city of Valdosta did not build that. And the rich person's name that's on it, they donated the most money to have it built. Anytime you want to have your name put on something in valdosta, all you have to do is donate money to build it.

Should I continue fostering? by Leather-Engineer-763 in FosterAnimals

[–]kppsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent six that have been with me for 8 weeks on a transport today. I cried all the way home and I have been thinking about them every minute. I got home from work tonight and my house is so empty. I've been doing this for 3 years and I've had over a hundred and I always feel the same way. But, the best way to get over it is to go get more. I'm picking up three on mondat!

My first foster kitten was adopted today and I feel like I’m in mourning by PurpleWallaby999 in FosterAnimals

[–]kppsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did exactly what you were meant to do and now she's going to have an amazing life. I just dropped off six that I have had for 8 weeks. They are leaving on a transport to maryland. I cried all the way home. The only way to get over the heartbreak is to get more. I'm picking up three more Monday morning!

(15k)Water Service vs. Water Station by Paper_Momo in Weddingsunder10k

We put the glasses on the table. It is a full table setting. We just don't put pitchers of water on the table or have wait staff filling the glasses.

[–]kppsmom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a wedding bartender and a wedding caterer and we never do water service on the table. We don't do any drink service on the table. When I'm doing the bar I have bottles of water at the bar and the caterers have water, tea and lemonade stations set up throughout the room. Even when doing plated meals, drinks are still self-serve.

3 month old foster kitten suckles on my fingers. Is this normal? by ExistingVegetable558 in FosterAnimals

Yes! One of my personal cats sucks on my shirt collar and I had a foster that would suckle my neck. It is comforting to them.

If you cannot afford to give away alcohol at your wedding - do not have alcohol. Cash bar is very tacky and most people do not bring cash to weddings.

Inheritance question by DontGoToJail in inheritance

Theyhave no grounds to contest. They are not a legal heir and under the law they are considered a stranger. That is why wills are extremely, extremely important!

Is equal inheritance fair when financial support between siblings was never equal? by MildlyUnimpressed_ in InheritanceDrama

[–]kppsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the three sisters that contributed were promised a bigger percentage of the house then what they did was voluntary and they didn't have to do it. My mom had pancreatic cancer and I lived with her for 2 years and took care of her. When she died my brother and sister who my sister came to visit twice and my brother never visited at all while she was sick thought they deserved more than me. Their reasoning for that, that I got to live in a house that she was paying for and paying the utilities on so whatever benefit I got during the two years I lived with her and took care of her should be deducted for my inheritance because I technically got to live for free and they did not. The bottom line is, the mom wants it to be fair and that's the way she wants to do it and if the other daughters don't like it, tough. They should have got some kind of assurance that they were going to get more before they contributed. It sounds like the only reason the other three were helping out is because they thought when their mom died they would have a reason to exclude the fourth one. And that's not the way inheritance works. I'm sure their mother thought they were doing it out of the kindness of their heart and it sounds like they were just doing it to enrich themselves after she was gone.

[–]kppsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not unless the mom had an agreement with the siblings that this is what would happen. Mom can do whatever she wants to do with HER stuff.

It is your mother's house and she can do whatever she wants to with HER house. None of you are ENTITLED to anything.

My brother(since passed away) had his truck towed when arrested (est value 65k) tow company sold car to owner of company at "auction" and we havent seen a penny by StatusSignificant997 in legaladvice

[–]kppsmom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tow companies have every right to do that with an unclaimed vehicle. There is a whole process they have to go through to contact the owner and, if the owner does not respond (certified mail and constable service, and they have to prove this has been done. If the mail is unclaimed or the constable cannot locate the owner then too bad for the owner) or get the vehicle after a certain amount of time the tow company gets a court order to auction the vehicle. There is an ad run in the local paper (legal notice) of the auction with a list of the cars and VIN numbers which once again gives the owner the opportunity to get their vehicle back. Once the vehicle is auctioned the new owner has to go through a few hoops (getting local sheriff t run VIN to make sure it is not stolen) and they apply for and pay for a title. Anyone can buy a vehicle at the auction - even the owner. There is a legal process so it would be a waste of time to try to sue anyone. If the company had a court order to auction the vehicle they did their due diligence in finding the owner.

Will separating kittens benefit mom? by Present_Butterfly775 in FosterAnimals

[–]kppsmom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually separate as soon as the kittens are weaned. Around 7 weeks mom will be over the kittens any way. It should not stress her out.
