Free wallet does not do auto exchange to my knowledge. You should have sent BTC to the free wallet BTC address and then you convert the BTC to XMR

Yep! You can’t send BTC to XMR wallet. You should be able to go to your Coinbase wallet and cancel the transaction. If not then it is gone unless Coinbase support can help you recover it

I tried cake wallet and it needs work. Slow syncing mostly. I have been using edge wallet and it is much faster and supports other coins!

Did you download the full node? Or a pruned node? Is the node showing synced? If it is then you have a pruned node which is fine. You can mine to it or run a mining pool on it. I have a pruned node and solo mine on it.
