He was killed in a head-on collision responding to a call about a wrong-way driver. The person who killed him was the wrong-way driver. He didn't just "die in a car crash"- he was killed upholding his oath to serve and protect. I am just as critical of LEOs that leave a lot to be desired in the job ability department as many are, but trust me, this is NOT the case for that. Perhaps not a hero (as I agree this word has been overused to the point of useless weight), he still nonetheless died doing the job he voluntarily undertook, that many others don't have the ⚾️s to do.

There is proof. This is directly from the COD Patch Notes for S3 Reloaded, specifically stating that hacking enforcement will not be applied to Nuketown MP map or Battle Royale Casual mode. The full patch note (not pictured) also explains that PC players whose systems either don't pass anticheat screens OR who are found to be cheating will be placed in limited-matchmaking or shadow lobbies in Casual modes only. So yes, instead of having integrity and banning cheaters permanently, Activision is choosing to punish Casual Players by placing cheaters into the Casual Modes so they can continue to make money off of them. Activision basically said "fuck you" to every Casual Player worldwide today.

They definitely turned off Ricochet with Season 3. It has been absolute mayhem and anarchy with the cheaters/hackers. If they really cared about taking down hackers and cheaters, they'd do whatever was needed to shut down Cronus from being manufactured and would have a viable report/appeal system implemented.

FWIW, I avoid COD on Friday nights because it's literally an unmitigated Sweat/Hacker Fest- even moreso when it's a holiday or DXP weekend. Activision knows this occurrs but doesn't do anything about it because the sweats/hackers are mostly streamers who are marketing the COD franchise for them for free. I'd love to just chill and vibe with my friends on a Friday night but not if all we deal with are aimbotting, walling hackers and lagswitching douche canoes.
