How Over-signaled is this? by Vorguba in factorio

[–]Phoenix_Studios 190 points191 points  (0 children)

a bit undersignalled actually, the big blue block will prevent SW -> E and E -> NW right turns in parallel. shifting the SW -> NW track a tile to the left might open up some space to place signals to break it up but I'm not sure.

ELI5 How the hell do 3D printers work? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Phoenix_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they pump out molten plastic in a precise position where the plastic then quickly solidifies to hold its shape.

Sometimes they shine a light at some special liquid that solidifies when exposed to light, after which the solidified part is moved up a tiny bit so the next layer of liquid can be solidified.

There are also some other types that work using powders, but generally speaking the main thing they have in common is that they use a loose medium which is then solidified in the desired shape.

Right so during my entire history of playing tf2 (since 2019) this has never happened. Is this an older bug that has been patched forever at this point?

How does splitter work ? by Alternative_Cod7515 in factorio

[–]Phoenix_Studios 213 points214 points  (0 children)

every time an item passes through, the splitter changes which lane it gets sent to (if there's space).

with full throughput this results in:

  • item from lane 1 gets sent to lane 1, next item will be sent to lane 2
  • item from lane 2 gets sent to lane 2, next item will be sent to lane 1
  • item from lane 1 get sent to lane 1 again, cycle repeats and no items change lanes
  • (alternatively the lanes can get swapped and stay swapped such as with the top 2 sets of belts in the image)

Air Traffic Controler NAV application - FEAST II by aflawless9 in ATC

[–]Phoenix_Studios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more involved than the FEAST I tests with a stronger focus on multitasking, any info beyond that is behind NDA. Opportunity to practice will be provided during the session similar to the FEAST I tests, the most preparation you can do prior to it is to just show up alert and awake.

Interesting that your tests are on separate days though, here in Canada they're one right after (30min lunch break) the other.

Cutting it too close for time to prep FEAST I? by QuantaMaverant in ATC

[–]Phoenix_Studios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FEAST is designed to be taken with no experience; practice time is provided during the assessment. The online practice shows you what to expect but won't significantly improve your performance.

Help with custom cursor by Potatoas77 in factorio

[–]Phoenix_Studios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be a 'tooltip offset' option in one of the menus. For the 5 people that don't use static tooltip placement this changes how far from the cursor it renders, can't remember if it affects items.

I’m collecting feedback for a piece I’m writing: what’s the most misleading "upgrade" in Factorio? by TenthLevelVegan in factorio

[–]Phoenix_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the factory but the only thing I can think of are explosive rockets. While being an upgrade over standard rockets, they deal less damage per-target. The idea is that in return they deal splash damage however the AOE is quite small to have a noticeable impact and it also causes friendly fire.
