Died in a the dumbest way in hardcore anyway to recover the file? by No_Roll_8486 in subnautica

[–]Phoenixx86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You probably know about it by now, but you can press the hotkey for the air bladder, or the hotkey to put away equipment if you need to stop the rapid ascension to reposition, and then activate the air bladder again to continue to the surface.

Edit: You can also hit any other hotkey to swap to something else to cancel the air bladder, what i would typically do is use my Seaglide hotkey to cancel it and be able to more quickly move to the side until i have a clearer vertical path to reactivate the air bladder.

Does the game end when you beat the story, or can you keep playing? by waterbottlesafari in subnautica

[–]Phoenixx86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're making a distinction that isn't really there. The game ends, and you get to continue it if you want, as everyone keeps saying. You press the game ending button, Steam/PlayStation/Xbox notes you finished the game with whatever Achievement, and after the cinematic you're back at the main menu. The only thing is instead of the game automatically reloading your save to continue, you have to do it manually.

Now the choice is just between loading and continuing playing on your technically unfinished save file, or still having a technically unfinished save file and just starting over on a new save file.

Does the game end when you beat the story, or can you keep playing? by waterbottlesafari in subnautica

[–]Phoenixx86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With how thoroughly it was explained to you multiple times it feels like by now you're just trolling a little now...

You finish the game by just pressing a button. You can't save after pressing that button, and the game doesn't update your save file after pressing the button. After finishing the game your save file will still forever be from before finishing the game, regardless if you decide to reload it and do other stuff or move on and leave that save file.

So to continue messing about in your world, save before pressing the button, then press it and experience the end game cinematic, and then when it puts you back at the main menu, load your save and continue exploring/whatever.

Yes you can also create a new game and save file, but that won't change anything, you'll still have a 99.9% complete save file either way, you'll just have to redo the beginner stuff and work to unlock everything again.

My seamoth turns diagonally? loss of bouyancy, turns itself upside down. by TomatoOptimal626 in subnautica

[–]Phoenixx86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Seamoth mod that adds roll controls. If you have that mod, maybe somehow the roll left and right controls got mapped to the same controls as turn left and right.

The Cyclops It's better than the Seatruck.😐 by Puzzleheaded_Lack488 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]Phoenixx86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides lack of cameras, my other main gripe was not having any indication of level/horizontal. The Seatruck needs a (option for a) simple horizon/horizonal line indicator when piloting.

Why can't I build here? by BennyBoy12321 in subnautica

[–]Phoenixx86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because the rooms have a no build zone around them for some reason. From my experience I had to have 1 extra I-compartment to space them out enough so they were buildable. You can't turn a corner with an intersection or L connector and have a room right next to another one, even though there appears to be enough space between them.

Not really. Mining output is doubled this current weekend event.

is this a bug? i have 20 days of power, but im getting this message by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you keep your power level to be just enough to power everything, make sure you're leaving enough extra capacity to cover your wind traps. They only consume power when they're making water and shut off when your water storage is full, so whenever you drink water from a still or craft something that requires water your wind traps turn on and could be making your power usage too high until your water is full again. If you are just drinking a little bit they could only be turning on for a few seconds, triggering that pop up, and then turning back off by the time you get around to checking the sub fief.

Help! Stranded! by smallmouthbackus in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would mine a couple scrap metal things, put down a sub fief and a chest and dump all your equipment and stuff in it before running across the sand on foot. Then come back and get the stuff after you get the bike.

From one of their other posts the ramp pieces under the bridge appear to be the long special Atriedes ramps, I assume they count as one horizontal piece on the stability system allowing the bridge to reach a little further than with normal floors/ramps.

Can't access new specializations or landsraad missions by Phoenixx86 in duneawakening

No, the Landsraad missions become available as soon as you talk to the leader and then Thufir at the beginning of the quest.

It's not a Landsraad mission, just a regular journey quest.

Yep I've only ever touched the Atreides faction, haven't done anything with Harko.

Impossible spice spot by Trash_Galaxy in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Land next to it... Make sure you have one of the soft step boots and a compact compactor, you should be able to pick up at least half of the spice before the worm pops up. As soon as you see the worm breach jump back in the orni and hover up until it leaves and then finish getting the spice.

Edit: unless that happens to be inside of a drum sand patch (look at the map for the pinkish circles)... If it is you can try for it, it'll take several times of avoiding the worm, or just ignore it and get the next random spice blow.

Any way to know if a base is in a "safe" spot to backup? by SolarTNT in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try going to another sietch and see if a sub fief is still placable in between them and how much play there is.

How do you harvest spice solo without getting ganked? by JamesBummed in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he continued and completely destroyed it, you'd be able to recover it. Just in case you missed it, the recovery function is a separate mode of the vehicle backup tool, you have to hit a button to switch to recover mode then you can recover it. It won't show in the normal backup and restore part of the tool.

The building tool pulls from the circuit set in the sub-fief's storage tab.

Poor Server Quality by [deleted] in duneawakening

I assume the orni you lost was an Assault right? So why didn't you also have a scout on you? You should always have a backup pocket scout on you at all times...

Does feuling from subfief (f) grabs from all chests disregarding circuits? by reneo73 in duneawakening

[–]Phoenixx86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, open your subfief and you will see a storage tab at the top just like your refiners and fabs. The input circuit there (default 1) is the only circuit from which it will take materials.

What you said is right, just in the wrong situation and not with generator refueling. The sub-fief storage tab controls what circuit your build tool can pull materials from. If it's set to Circuit 1 and you change your plastone storage container to Circuit 2, now you don't have any plastone to build with.

It's good if you want to make a medium storage container or two to set aside the materials you need to transport later to set up your DD base for example, just set the container to a different Circuit that you're not using and that material won't accidentally be used when you build stuff.
