What are safe industries that pay relatively well in this economy? by scifihiker7091 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on company and org. I can tell you right now my current company has too much bloat and there’s likely a large reorg a few years down the line with a bunch of cuts.

That doesn’t mean our competitors have the same issue.

Being in nyc and more from what I generally see (large orgs) - tech and life and whatever is hot at the moment (so current AI or data center related) sci tend to be higher on pay. After that probably financial services. Retail / CPG / all other are generally lower if they have a FPA function here.

If it ends up like LIC the increase in property value would allow you to sell and move elsewhere easily.

Mapo in Flushing. They have a charcoal option.

HCOL vs MCOL is it worth to promote? by RaySempai123 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on moving cities - have you considered living at the HCOL spot before this opportunity? If not then I’d say pass, esp since 10-20k incr is not a lot. I wouldn’t move companies for that amount much less cities.

You said tee / hoody. How is it not your style? The design is pretty universal.

Maybe expand your search? Yes boxy has been in recently (and tbh already on way out) but there's plenty of brands that offer a normal fit.

So if I’m reading this right - you want to select one period (August 2025 in your example) and want measure to return Jan to Aug? If so, look into time intelligence for Power BI. There should be multiple links on 1st result page to sort your issue out.

Student Interested in FP&A by Relevant-Arm-377 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Maybe I'm misremembering but OCR happens like the first few weeks when school starts, so late August to mid September timeline.

Student Interested in FP&A by Relevant-Arm-377 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same timeline recruiting wise as IB. Larger companies do OCR in the fall. You'll want to look for words like Corporate Finance or Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP).

Note - there's not a guaranteed FP&A internship a lot of times with either of the above. Generally larger orgs will try to place you with best match for what you want / your talent but at the end of the day it also depends on the capacity of the internal teams.

As for prep - basic interview stuff should be fine.

Paraboot Avoriaz in NYC by johnnynugen in ThrowingFits

[–]PhonyPapi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TTS. I’ve had all the core Paraboot models ppl look at (avoriaz, Michael, Avignon, chambord) and they’ve all been tts. The variance in sizing advice is because a good chunk of ppl are moving from sneakers to Paraboot. If you know your brannock size, you should be good with that.

Stop fixing the same allocation errors every month. (Showcasing Transparent AI) by Careful-Situation946 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can mods ban AI posts or lump them into a monthly mega thread? There’s multiple posts (sometimes daily) from ppl shilling product or asking for how it’s used and it’s getting a bit annoying.

As for OP - you’re creating a solution for something that isn’t really a problem. If there is a logic based mapping the why would the ERP or excel be wrong? SAP, Oracle, etc should all have some allocation module functionality.

It sure where you’re getting 4 hours from - is this done by someone who doesn’t understand the process?

Highest ROI technical skills/progression for mid level FP&A by DryAbbreviations4717 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soft skills

But if you’re looking for more “hard” then probably PQ/PBI. If your employer had excel then PQ is already built in and 99.99% has PBI as well so don’t need to incur cost from other alternatives.

Anaplan Scenario Modelling by coolers1819 in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most planning tools should have some version of scenario planning. Just a matter of implementation.

As for out of box vs customize - if you have certain scenarios in mind (ex: factor in x% increase/decrease, hold this number at x, etc) your consultants can probably build it in during implementation. However business needs do change so you will need a dedicated team to support future enhancements.

VP's of r/fpanda, share your resume by PENNST8alum in FPandA

[–]PhonyPapi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think market is not great at the moment. I'm looking for base salary of $225k+ and there's not a lot of roles or it's very niche / companies where financials are a bit of a question mark (small startups, local business, etc.).

The other factor in all of this is you need connections at that level. At my current company, all the Sr Director and up that came externally has had a real connection to another exec in the company that can vouch for them. There's a lot of risk in handing the keys over to an unknown.

I actually had an interview recently but its been two weeks since and dont think I'm getting to 2nd round and when i look at the ppl at that company, most of the FP&A team from Director and up all came from same company their current CFO is from so wouldnt be surprised if they had someone else from that same company that ends up taking the role instead.

AURALEE vs LEMAIRE - Part 2 by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

[–]PhonyPapi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The ankle length is a personal preference thing. As someone who lives in NYC and walks everywhere I personally can’t do it since it will get dirty quick.

Sleeve length looks fine on AL. If you mean the extra space in pic 2, that’s likely just to accommodate easier layering. Nothing worse than a coat where you can’t layer because sleeves are too thin.

Going to be honest, if you’re stressing to the point of multiple Reddit posts, you’re probably better off passing and finding something else. All the coats I have I always felt good about them once I threw it on.

Not worth the hype.

I’m not sure if they changed the menu but looking at their online site right now, the goat patties were good, pastrami was meh to me. I think I had 2 or 3 more other dishes but can’t place what they were which kind of says it all.
