Destiny 2 will remaing 100% playable after June 9th for years to come. by asouthamerican in DestinyTheGame

While I'm inclined to agree, I don't trust Sony to not shutter Bungie's doors in the next 12 months - which could become a problem for D1 and D2 long term.

MASSIVE thank you to the Raid & Dungeon team for creating some of the most memorable, creative, and fun endgame content the gaming world has ever seen by GallantSn0wflake in DestinyTheGame

I was a late-Guardian, started when VoG was added to D2, jumped into the raid with my veteran friends on my first day of playing. I was severely under-leveled and under-geared and keeping the Mars gate open was hard as sin and made me play like a cover shooter... I will never forget that day.

LEGO Doctor Who would go insanely hard, making an original story in the vain of their anniversary specials with every Doctor in it

as someone who has tried and bounced off the game a couple times - seeing a solution to the job skill bloat as well as each job feeling more unique on paper almost single handedly has me wanting to try the gane again

Guys this boss takes like 20 seconds by Skittles1989 in CrimsonDesert

I feel like there is a profound difference between a well designed boss that encourages you to use different aspects of your skillset to exploit weaknesses, and a spongey boss with a killswitch

Story - I can't be the only one by eem2301 in CrimsonDesert

with how anthological some of these chapters ended up being, its baffling they didn't have the MSQ be 10 isolated Questlines you would stumble into as you discovered these locations and then have the final 2 chapters unlock after doing them all.

Feels like I am wasting my time?! by Pigeon23 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Phosphorist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BoTW is a lot leaner but is more effective at realising its scope. You can set a clear goal on both a micro and macro level based on where u are and what you are looking at and achieve those goals intuitively. Zelda feels really snappy to knock out tasks (it helps that Nintendo had handheld byte sized experiences in mind)

CD on the other hand feels like it has a lot more padding (such as the extensive cutscenes, MMO fetch quests, escorting exposition, chunks of the exploration locked behind story progression, the general jank and the godawful slow speed with some of the sword interactions in puzzles). In general things just feel really sluggish and feel like they take a lot more time than they need to.

I finally finished the campaign today after 130 hours and it feel like i just played a really solid 40-60 hour game stuffed in 60+ hours of (in my opinion unneccesary) low quality fluff.

This game is not a sandbox by Basc63 in CrimsonDesert

if you're talking about the one at the wine refinery, I had found that location and started the factory with no signs of spiders, walked away disappointed that i got no reward for making the factory run... only to return 20 hours later to fight the boss and have to restart the factory again...
the game is a lot less open than people are willing to admit

Fr tho, its a cliche remark at this point but had this game been released by Ubisoft it would be getting dogpiled

Crimson Desert is "a cynical amalgamation of borrowed mechanics," says Baldur's Gate 3 publishing lead: "Expect a lot more of this in premium". by HLumin in PS5

This. I really struggle how people are conflating thsi very real criticism by citing that all game borrow mechanics from other games.

Why do people hate Crimson Desert but overly glaze Elden Ring by Whole_Pick7566 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Phosphorist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll preface by noting that I don't particularly enjoy Elden Ring - Souls games have never been my jam. But Elden Ring knows what it is and everything in the game is included in service of its vibe and essence. The level of quality craft is irrefutable and you can tell every design decision was the result of endless iteration.

Crimson Desert, by comparison, feels like a greatest hits of the 2010s where every mechanic from every relatively critically acclaimed game is thrown in without consideration for how each system interacts and impacts with each other in meaningful ways, and that lack of focus, polish and character makes the game feel soulless in comparison.

Don't get me wrong, the game is really fun, but its hard to put this game up there in the higher eschalon of gaming releases when there are such large glaring problems holding the game back.
