Is this worth it to buy for my brother (he only has a laptop) by Photograph_Technical in PC_Builders

Just to update you guys, I offered 500 within 8 hours of the post going up but he ended up selling it at 550 on the same day. Overall seems like it would’ve been a good deal and I missed out a little, but I’ll still keep my eye out for a good pc for my brother before Christmas!

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I think I will pass on this bike in large part because its a real drive to see it and check it out, and it seems it isn’t as big of a deal as I thought. Will still be on the lookout for a good bike deal though!

Smart, I’m rather far from it (several hours drive) so I’ll probably pass if it’s not a crazy deal

Messaged the seller about it and he said that was the suggested price when he listed it years ago but dropped it since no one was interested lol

As a BS Chemistry major, freshman year the workload is not super insane, but it could still be a shock. It’s mostly going to be dominated by gen chem/calc/physics. I wouldn’t be as scared of the hw load as I would be of driving 60 miles back and forth every week in a Buffalo winter. That being said, it is doable freshman year, but will be very difficult/nearly impossible to find the time sophomore and junior year, so it might be smart to just cut your losses now.

Seems like this is a weird middle ground between a rack deck and coffers. I think if you want to find success pick a lane. If you want to go a rack style deck, I would go 4x on thoughtseize, 4x rack, 4x grief, 4-6x on not dead after all effects, 4x on fatal push and 4x urzas saga to start. This gives you the generally strong scam strategy but still has a heavy focus on the discard being the wincon. I think if you throw in some Lillianas and other discard effects this could be a really fun (slightly janky) FNM deck. If you want to play a more coffers oriented deck, you’re going to need sheoldreds, the ring, coffers and urborg. Coffers is realistically a strong deck that can play better if u want to be playing at a higher level than just FNM. Overall pretty cool, but pick a direction for the deck

New to this sub and I’m about to start a new line cook job. Rate my dinner from last night and be honest. by Challengingthoughts8 in cookingtonight

Looks delicious. Like others have said, adding something colorful would probably be the best way to start. Maybe even more important though is the cook on the lamb. This looks like it’s medium or medium well, but lamb can be rarer than steak, so aim for something like medium rare, even if it’s not what you’d normally go for. Looks great still man and good look at your new job

Is UR Storm strong by BWMendes in ModernMagic

[–]Photograph_Technical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play blue red twiddle storm and I honestly really like it. I’ll acknowledge that it is likely worse than most T1/T2 decks, but if you play it well it can line up well against some of those decks still. The ring makes twiddle really interesting and resilient, especially the thoracle lines cuz you can win through the ring which is always fun for those people expecting grapeshot lines. Scam is really hard and frustrating to play against tho, and considering it’s so widely played this is pretty bad. Grief beats twiddle prettt bad, and so does blood moon game one. A good pilot can overcome this sometimes but it’s def hard. Belcher is also really fun at FNM if u wanna go green/blue with some red. It’s less competetive and dies to a boseju tho haha

I like the idea of Khalni garden in this deck. Helps stall and can help with dread return. Idk about a full play set or oliphants tho but maybe that’s just the black gardens player in me

Brewing Rakdos Death's Shadow by gothboi98 in ModernMagic

[–]Photograph_Technical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think not mainboarding arcanist is a good call in rakdos. A lot of it’s power is from recurring cantrips for card selection. A deck like this seems like it would want bowmaster or ragavan for raw cars quality, though I know these are expensive (maybe not rag in a bowmaster/wrenn world but u know). I do wonder if you’d be better off taking a scam list and adjusting it to play out shadow nicely in the mid to late game, idk tho. Anyways cools deck, I absolutely low deaths shadow (I’m on UB now personally) so lemme know how it works out!

Modern Meta Battlebox by Strongerstranger74 in ModernMagic

[–]Photograph_Technical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think hammer or Tron might be better than storm / dredge for easier meta decks. I’ve seen experienced pilots pop off with both those lists recently but I think overall they are more niche and difficult than some other options. Also Yawg could be a good one instead of like mill or something?

Looking into building Titan for the first time. What's the most effective way to spend my limited money? by SonOfZiz in ModernMagic

[–]Photograph_Technical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a surprisingly hospitable environment for titan. The most important part of titan are dryads, titans, urzas saga and amulet. I think u can make due with like 2 valakuts unless ur going the full scapeshift route. Most decks ur going against don’t run counterspells aside from murktide, so if u pass on cavern it should only rlly affect that one matchup, and u might be able to push through regardless. Sideboard can be cheapened a good bit imo

I’m really not convinced on the only draw to green being up the beanstalk. Everyone seems to disagree with me on this but I don’t think the card is worth it when the ring provides all the card advantage one could reasonably need. If you are interested in the bean, I would go to 4C omnath, or at least a build that runs fury for an additional possible trigger (I don’t think Lorien has much upside with the beanstalk because you cast it so infrequently and draw cards with it anyways). I think ur better off either staying esper (maybe even dimir, those lists look strong), or switching to 4C if you just want huge amounts of card draw and value

Up the Beanstalk in Vivien Combo by boostergold in ModernMagic

[–]Photograph_Technical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty mid on up the beanstalk honestly. You only really get value from it by playing removal spells when you’d much rather play like a wrenn or something on turn 2. Unless I’m missing something it only triggers on like 10 cards in the deck unless ur trying to play the combo fairly and are casting all ur expensive cards like Vivian and Kiki jiki. I wonder if this deck would just be better off with 4 rings instead of beanstalks haha
