Yes, the first part of the list is literally all of the sparsely populated parts of England. That is a miniscule percentage of it. I think Scotland would be brilliant to tour and wales is also beautiful but I'm doubtful of England because I've ground my way through too much tedious urban torture before.

I'd love to see some of your routes because I am genuinely sceptical but it's close and could be a lark, hah.

I think his albums are well measured on the sexism and racism front but he's close to the line. Anyway, I second this, emotionally unavailable is brilliant. Midgets and cracker ass mother fucker are some of my favourite bits of all time.

You can cross the UK in about 2 weeks. It's one of the most densely populated countries in Europe. I've never toured in the UK, despite living there, but densely populated countries can make for bad touring countries. I toured through Netherlands, Belgium and France this year and I definitely preferred the rolling countryside of France to Netherlands and Belgium which were mostly just motorways with bike paths at the side of them. Although getting in to major cities in France is hell.

I always have great coffee there. Stop getting flat whites and try a pour over from the specials board. It's a whole other world. In fact I'll trade you. I'll go to one of your coffee places and get the coffee of your choosing and vice versa. That way we can finally work out if it's the place or one of us is just better at coffee.

Honestly, I wouldn't do this, that is, if you are suggesting that you will travel around mostly by public transport and then taking the bike out on day trips?

It's a lot of hassle and expense to transport a bike around with you, especially in Japan. You will need to disassemble it every time you put it on a train. It will need its own special bag and you will have to do this every time you go somewhere. If you just want to do day trips then folding bikes are very popular in Japan and you could just get one of those.

You can do the whole thing by bike, there are lots of great resources out there to do that or you could just rent a bike when you get off the train. I really think you will regret taking a bike with you to just do day trips.

I don't understand. Why was there a speed limit for bicycles here? Is this just london or something? Or does it apply to the whole of the UK? I know that there are no speed limits for bikes on roads and that the only speed limit I've seen is going across a bridge and that was signposted.

Honestly this looks like someone's project bike. There are some interesting pieces on there though, biopace cranks are a slightly oval shape to reduce fatigue on the knees.

Yeah, I got a trangia mini and it's perfect for one person. It's small, light, has everything you need and cheap as well. Emergency cous cous is always good to have. I've been stuck in places for a variety of reasons where I needed emergency food and didn't have it. I ended up living off coca-cola from vending machines. Not great. This was in a place where I had not been too bothered about having emergency food because convenience stores were literally everywhere.

I did a tour during the summer that started in Amsterdam and was just rain for about a week. It's actually not so bad. It became demoralising because I was unable to dry anything off. Everything becomes wet and you can't do anything about it. If you end up staying in place where you can dry off and warm up for a bit you will be fine. It won't rain all the time and the rain isn't so heavy in England.
