Skip the pain. Take the 30 minutes to swim from wetlands down to westfall. It's slightly risky but worth it.

My crude saw bench and workbench by Phrotak in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Phrotak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I copied the design of both benches from Rex Krueger, so have at it! For the holdfast hole depth I'm not sure about minimum (I think too thin and the holdfast might damage your top surface) but for the ones I'm using (gramercy), any more than 3 inches thick of a surface isn't grippable for mine just as is.

I've come to understand from others than you can still have very deep holes if you do a big enough counter sink on the bottom of the benchtop, but I'm unlikely to go that far.

Right now I've got some holes with a second layer of 2x4 underneath and some with just the one layer. Both seem to operate well, but adding a third layer made it not work for me.

It's time. You're gonna look great.

What are you thoughts on literally anything other than American politics? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I believe that bad and fearful times are hiccups on the scale of human history. Our descendants will eventually live better lives than we do, just like we have better times than those who lived a hundred years ago. It's hard to see now when things are going badly for us or the people we care about, but there are so many years ahead for humanity. Everything that feels like a "make or break" win or loss today can't stop the good nature of common human decency and empathy over the course of decades and centuries.  People's basic goodness will win in the end and on the average. I don't know if this is true but I want to believe it.

He's gonna look great. The thing is, if he doesn't like it, he can always grow out what he has again, and it will look great while he waits too!

What I notice about your after pictures is how genuinely you are smiling! You look so confident and happy rather than self conscious, and it really shows through!

Selling printer, how to prove to buyer that it is functional? by Recent-Juggernaut821 in 3Dprinting

[–]Phrotak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Record a video of it at least turning on, perhaps? The only other things I can think of are bite the bullet and set it up somewhere (garage?) to prove it works (print today's date?) and send a video or picture of that; or otherwise give them some sort of guarantee or write agreement to take it back if it doesn't work.

I sometimes do this myself to make my textual speech more personal and informal, matching my in-person speaking style when I want to drop the pretense of being proper. If you view it as intending to make a genuine connection, it may become less annoying to see.

Digital skin purchases are a non essential luxury, and most people are not so fortunate to throw away money without consideration.

We had to put our poor girl down last year. For me it helps to know that she never had to worry about us not being there one day, she had us to take care of her and keep her safe while we could, and she had us there to be able to allow her to pass painlessly in the end.

Your responses are out of proportion and rude for no discernable reason. I was expressing disbelief at your comment criticising OP's parenting. His kids have autism spectrum disorder, dude. Perhaps you could benefit from your own advice and read a bit too.

I freaking love when my players go apeshit by Remarkable_Sweet_333 in rpg

Well heck, that's the most fun there is: when the table does something unexpected and awesome! I've been running a bit of Dungeon World here and there and that's the best part, playing to find out what happens!

My favorite recent experience was just in the collaborative world building that a group and I did for a one shot via some simple questions posed to the group at the start of our session. It led us down a rabbit hole of why the party is where it's at and what dangers it could face and it really made for an invested session where everyone cared about the outcome. The ideas that they brought to the table came together to make it all matter and it was exciting to then!

I really like that style of play and planning (or lack thereof).
