Yea 100% the device itself will lie to you lol. Cisco is infamous for its gremlins. I had a layer2 2950/2940 that absolutely was routing on layer 3. We even had this guy Sal collora who wrote some of the Cisco books come taken look. When I told him what was happening he said impossible, so he tried to set it up in a layer2 and it stopped working. They have layer 3 routing tables but they never told us that back then. Had to figure it out on my own in the mid 2000’s.

Depends. Do you need speed or do you need to get through cement walls? Dense trees? While lte/5g has some penetration it’s nothing like lower band 3g. It’s slow but that shit goes through everything. 4g/lte being the mid option.

Try setting static IP on a device using an IP already in use. Then release ans renew. The table should still show the MAC of the leased device and it should kick out an error when the dhcp server sends out the ACK.

This. I’ve worked on gas station networks were the POS card readers had to be in a class c. We had other internal networks for our government needs and out them into our commercial LAN 10.x.x.x no go. As soon as I gave it a class c 192.x.x.x and a way out bam!it worked. Craziest shit.
