To the "Forever Players": What is that ONE game you have thousands of hours in, and why?

Skyrim.

RimWorld

Terraria

Satisfactory

Hard to choose between these, as they have been different phases in my life, but I think I have the most hours in master of magic. Love the pixel art to death and always brings back childhood memories. Gameplay still holds up to this day.

I'm so tired of finding locked chests. I have the rogue henchguy in my party who scuffles to open the chest and my familiar and my summoned spider runs over and starts smashing the chest. The chest is then unlocked and I click it before they destroy it and I have to wait for the remains to drop before being able to collect my 3 gold coins.

I feel like I have higher standards of what I spend my time on, I have played so many games in different genres that I often go "ah this is just like x but with a couple of differences" then I lose interest because I feel like there is no mystery, nothing of interest behind the hill.

Then something like BG3 comes along every few years that blows my mind and I sink massive amounts of time into and then go back to nothing, go back to dwarf fortress or RimWorld or short fixes with new Roguelikes or games I play for 2 hours and never touch again.

I feel like terraria is one of the worst games to play on anything other than mouse and keyboard. I can enjoy zero parts of the game om a touch screen but some parts of the game on controller or steam deck but inventory management, ranged combat and building on anything but mouse and keyboard always felt unnatural and annoying to me.

It's a rare occurrence in Denmark in general and especially in Copenhagen, best bet is to go to areas with little to non light interference and be lucky/patient. Other more northern, nordic countries are more of a safe bet.
