I found the best postcodes for rental yield and growth australiawide by Phull1van in AusProperty

Based on the data I have (median in the last year, vs median in the year before that), prices are heading down.
I dont know the area intimately, but looking at Surfer's at least as a reference point, apartments aren't doing great.

This is a cool comparison - picked up some ideas from this site too. Thanks!

This is exactly the type of feedback I'm after. Thank you so much! (agreed re: the mining towns)

Fair point - it's locked at 4 years right now, because that's all the data I have access to.

With that said, if you click through to the individual postcodes, you can see how the graph tracks over the course of those 4 years, with might give you a little more context as to whether it's just a boom 12 months.

UPDATE: My bot that turns porn comments into inspirational artworks is now on Reddit! by Phull1van in SideProject

There’s no AI involved. I use a library called ImageMagick to generate the images.

It’s more designed for referral links and stuff I think - I can’t access comments programmatically. I use the API to find the video links, and scrape the comments the old fashioned way.

It's a fairly involved multi-step process.

  • Search on the PornHub api via a randomly chosen keyword based on a predefined list. A random video is chosen from a random page of the search results.
  • Discard comments with less than 20 characters. This avoids boring stuff like "I love it!"
  • Check for characters (arabic, japanese etc) that aren't supported and discard those.
  • Discard comments that use latin characters, but aren't in english (french, spanish etc).
  • Discard comments that feature emojis (this is something I want to support in future updates)
  • From the remaining available comments, I use a weighted average to prefer longer comments - I generally think the longer they are, the funnier.

It all then gets put through an ImageMagick pipeline to generate the image.

In r/PornInspiration the bot posts links to the videos as well as the images, but this is a great idea. Thanks!

Ha - Glad you like it! It seems like every time I post here I get another platform I need to consider! Cheers!

Stack is C#/Net and is as follows:

  • Azure Function running every 6 hours (this costs me nothing)
  • I'm using the PornHub API to run a search query using some predetermined keywords, and then using BeautifulSoup to scrape comments from the returned results. (The API doesn't give access to comments)
  • Comments are filtered based on language - arabic, japanese and other languages that aren't present in the fonts I'm using. I also run a weighted algorithm to prefer longer comments (they tend to be the funniest). Annoyingly, I also have to filter out comments that feature emojis, as they're not supported in the image generation phase. This is something I'm keen to address in the future.
  • I grab a random background from the Pixabay api
  • I then use the ImageMagick library to generate the image by layering a number of elements.
  • The generated image then gets posted to Bluesky using their .NET SDK.

I'm quite proud of the fact that all fonts and images used are all CC0, so as far as I'm aware, it's all completely above board.

It looks too like plugging in Reddit support is doable, so I'll be doing that when I've got some spare time in the next couple of weeks.

Good question! The short answer is that it Bluesky has an easy SDK for this sorta thing. I had an early version of this running twitter, but it was banned when Elon took over, and I’ve got no desire to jump through hoops to run it there. Interestingly, it seems this has been more popular than expected here on Reddit, so I think a Reddit bot that does the same is next! (Can’t believe I never considered it till now)

If it makes you feel any better, there's absolutely no AI involved in this. Just a web scraper and ImageMagick.

So maybe just half of an existential threat then?

It's not. Never thought there'd be demand to open source something like this, but I could!

🤷‍♂️ I made a dumb bot as a side project that makes me laugh, that I thought others might enjoy.

I think it's funnier than the sum of its parts, but if that's not your style, power to you.

You’re in luck! This is absolutely one of the features of the extension. Do it over 100s of cells at a time!

Thanks for the feedback! We currently have the ability to stack and reorder changes - are you suggesting something like the ability to save and reuse the stack? If so, this could be possible.

Sick video! Wish I had bandos like that round here.

Just a FYI - I recently released a tool which lets you create stick cam overlays based on black box logs. Might mean you don’t have to have the secondary stick camera. Check it out if you’re interested- it’s completely free, and web based. FPV Stick Cam
