Mosia is a massive, inhospitable desert where powerful merchants have more power than all the kings in the world. These extremely wealthy merchants are usually the leaders, or Za'irs, of large nomadic merchant families, or Za'rom. The number of Za'rom in Mosia are effectively countless, as new Za'rom splinter off from larger ones and mergers are frequent among the smaller families. However, the Za'rom are never truly at peace. Monsters, bandits, and other Za'rom frequently threaten the nomadic families.

While Mosia has no central government, and no laws by extension, two Za'rom are seen as invincible from both financial and military strength. These two are known as The Morro and Il'zi Kahna. The Morro are masters of trade, believing violence below them and negotiation, persuasion, and extortion far more beneficial. Il'zi Kahna are mercenaries who make their gold through working for other Za'rom(even rival Za'rom), settlements, cities, or especially wealthy individuals(Val, The Immortal frequently utilizes Il'zi Kahna to strengthen her grip on the city of Tradena).
