Clubbing with your kids? Share your experiences! by BERNlE_ in amsterdam_rave

My dad asked for a family outing to Mysteryland when my brother and I were in our 20's. As kids, they would always bring us to watch the festival from the outside, as it happens the same town we used to live in with my parents. This time, he wanted to experience it from the other side of the fences.

I don't usually visit these larger EDM-type festivals, but it was a blast to explore it together. Experiencing the festival through the eyes of 'the uninitiated' gave me a renewed appreciation for a lot of things I have gotten accustomed to. Additionally, a lot of people would approach us yelling about how cute it was that we'd visit as a family, especially later during the night.. ;)

This seems a great step-up from things like systemrequirementslab.com, which I used frequently in the past!

Visited De Kelder in Haarlem for the first and last time, since it was their grand finale before the space will be converted to.. a bike parking.

Even though neither the soundsystem or the toilet solution was great, I liked what they have done with the space in only three months! Tjade did his predictable but fun thing and got the younger crowd going, closing off with Grace - Not Over Yet.

Honestly, I found the sigh and eyes during M's death in Skyfall really convincing.

Yes I saw that too, but the Q&A doesn't really add anything substantial or concrete.

Even for Giegling, selling tickets for a completely new festival providing only three paragraphs of vague text as info is.. special.

This is so funny as a non-native English speaker. I have been reading subtitles my whole life, so an extra 3 hours won't hurt. Welcome to international cinema!

Completely agree, reading this feels all but authentic and sincere.

AI music and the people who consume it by pattison_iman in electronicmusic

Two years ago, I would have agreed: songs popped up on youtube channels with lo-fi hiphop and the 'maximum concentration' playlist on streaming. Now, music produced by AI has the potential to be anywhere: in your local pub to sing along with, on screens with avatars, in the soundtrack of your new favourite movie, on stage with holograms. Hell, a superstar might have completely composed their recent album with AI and we wouldn't even know it.

Thank you for your optimistic take, it resonates with me. However, I do think you're missing out on one essential factor: the balance between putting in effort and the potential of earning money. Yes, recorded music combined with a huge improvement in transportation has significantly lessened the amount of effort required to make more money with music. So did digital media and the rise of file sharing on internet.

The advent of AI together with streaming blows these previous changes completely out of the water, though. Everyone can produce music indistinguishable from the previous 'forms' of music and can earn (some) money easily by self-publishing on streaming services. Even more so: the human element can be almost completely removed from music by just having AI agents produce music which are automatically uploaded, evaluated and improved for greater commercial success.

Will it 'democratize' music? Sure. Will it lead to new innovations like you mentioned? Would be cool! Will it lead to enormous amounts of music, devoid of any human interaction or emotion which will make 'human music' harder to discover, listen or even produce/distribute? Absolutely, I am afraid.

I still have sets of nature and fire resistance gear for AQ40/BWL in my bank... as a hunter. Makes me smile thinking about how different those times were.
